btw Syracuse was undefeated (5-0) entering this game and their HC has two 20+ win szns in three years. So this wasn’t a nothing win either.
So am I to understand that Olson and Swords committed for and stayed for way less
(not rhetorical)
Possibly. Though I think that, like football and men’s basketball, the NIL has improved over the last year and a half.
We started 3 last year, somewhat out of necessity but also talent plays. Naz got plenty of minutes as a frosh.
I was chatting with someone who’s been following the team closely for years and I said to them that we haven’t had anyone with the combination of height/size/talent since Hallie Thome and they responded that Fope is better than Thome.
Even if she’s only contributing as a defender and rebounder, that’s going to help a lot.
So, we’ll see how it goes. I wish there were more clips of Ayo out there but I haven’t found much.
Those was legit on a team that didn’t have the depth of talent currently on the roster.
wow you are right, this is a thoroughly decent team that was eviscerated. The type of team that the very best in WBB usually blow out.
Michigan is now #6(!!!) on Bart
The 2024 recruiting class appears to be headed down legendary status in Michigan athletics history. If they all stick around 4 years…
Olivia Olson is something of an ananchronism in modern college sports. Would be shocked if she left, and it seems as if she is the keystone to this group being together
Tbh, women’s college basketball players don’t leave early for the WNBA. The WNBA is pretty restrictive on who can declare for the draft. Either they’re 22 or graduate early. Also, WNBA salaries aren’t great so it’s easier to stay 4 years and graduate before heading to the WNBA.
wasn’t about them leaving early for the WNBA
Then what do you mean by it
Portal to a blue blood
I’ve always been a very, very casual follower of WBB and marveled at the disparity in the sport where the top few teams won games that you wouldn’t let your children watch because of the embarrassment in the margin. Now Michigan has become one of those teams. Kudos to the program for what they’ve done the last few years to work toward the team they have now. Impressive. MBB, WBB, Hockey, and hopefully after Saturday Football with exciting top-ten teams this season.
It wasn’t quite the same level of competition that the men had but the women also scored over 100 and won by 49. DelFosse had a double-double off the bench.
LSU is #1 despite not playing a single game outside of Q4. They’ve all been thrashings, but pretty lame all the same.
Also I’m surprised that Texas isn’t #1 despite beating South Carolina and UCLA.
I didn’t realize there were 7 top-20 teams from the B10. Will make for some good basketball and good opportunity to boost the resume.
Even more impressive that their are 8!
