Up 8 after 1 against Oakland U. Every starter has scored.

Up 35-17 at the half.

88-42 win. Hobbs and Holloway with 16, and Swords with 15. They might crack the top-25 this week.

I thought I saw someone say Mila Holloway’s shot was broken. Her shot looks just fine to me. If this class stays together for 3 years and Kim Barnes Arico can get a legit 5 this team will be dangerous.

They have a nice recruiting class lined up for next year too. Mathurin and Byars are both highly rated. And you know Justin Fields’ sister has some nice athleticism in the family.

Plus if they can add Syla’s sister in 2026 then they will really be cooking.

There is going to be more talent in the program than they’ve ever had.

Small sample, but her threes look good out off her hand. Her emergence at PG would be huge. KBA hasn’t had someone like Mila in a long time.

Holloway actually has some play-making juice which probably makes the first since like Katelynn Flaherty (obviously is not that level a scorer/shooter). My comment on her shot came after the second game, at which point she seemed really hesistant to take anything that wasn’t a layup. Looking at the highlights from Oakland, she definitely got a bunch of “oh, wide open” threes. I just think she has a sort of lengthy gather compared to someone like Hobbs, so I wonder if she’s going to get many that aren’t wide open kickouts.

I thought she was at least shooting confidently in this game. At least one of the threes I remember being a very confident shot. Regardless, she looks to be a real gamer that is only going to improve. Her knack for getting to the line is awesome, and I can live with some mistakes from her early as she grows into the role.

This is a fun team to root for. I love watching BQD; she personifies hustle.

We did not crack the AP Top-25. We have the 2nd most points in the Others Receiving Votes portion.

Michigan is currently up 47-14 on LIU, with over 4 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter. Syla Swords leads the way with 17 points and Olivia Olson has 10.

Swords and Olson with 21 a piece

They really pressured the ball and trapped in the first quarter which ended 29-7. I think KBA did that to get them going early against an overmatched team. Other than three point shooting, which was bad, Michigan was dominant. In the second half, we went to what looked like a matchup zone.

Probably not be this year, but next year I would be fired up for a home ncaa-tourney game. That’d be awesome

So, KBA is rolling fairly deep still – playing everyone but Dunbar every game.

  • The starters, BQD, and Grabovskaia are locks to play every game.
  • While Grabovskaia has the second-lowest offensive rating*, she is a decent rebounder and offers size in the post.
  • Van Timmeren is a much better offensive player than Grabovskaia and has been very efficient when she’s in. She’s shooting 78.6% on almost entirely shots at the rim. Kind of reminds me of someone like Austin Davis: limited athleticism, but as a backup post they’re going to come in and give you some offense and just try to hold their own on defense. I think KBA will continue to use her to spell Grabovskaia and Greta. So far she’s playing the fewest MPG (9.2) of anyone other than Dunbar.
  • I’d be surprised if Macy Brown doesn’t get in to almost every game as well. She’s averaging just under 15 MPG.

Does anyone know what the situation is with Crockett? She hasn’t dressed at all this year, and I’m curious the reason. If it’s injury, if she’s expected back any time soon? It will be really interesting to see where her minutes fit in here and who she squeezes out (if anyone).

Right now, Greta is basically checking the post player most of the time when she’s in – especially to start the game – and has held her own. Grabovskaia comes in for her, and then sometimes later in the half Van Timmeren will come in to play the post and Greta may or may not be on the floor as a guard/wing. I have to wonder if Crockett becomes the natural backup to Olson or if they try to move her into that post area a bit and release Greta from those responsibilities. While Greta has been fine in that role so far, I’m not sure how she’s going to hold up against a legit B1G big like Stuelke.

*I don’t think I would have guessed Holloway had the lowest ORTG on the team.

ORTG is largely based on scoring efficiency and volume, and…she’s hasn’t been that great there.

I might be suffering from recency bias here as I was thinking of the two good games she had against CMU and Oakland:

However, the other three games have been much less efficient, and 3.6 turnovers/gm doesn’t help.
