Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

Izzo finally let Gabe Brown play. not here to say MSU played well or is any better, but the best version of that team involves Brown on the court for sure

Looking at the schedule, yeah, MSU wins out, that gets them to 10-9 in the best conference in the country with 4 wins over top 10 teams in the last couple weeks of the year. Gotta figure that makes the tournament, regardless of whether IU has a spot to take.

The only real hurdle for MSU at this point is that they are a terrible, terrible basketball team.

Was it not the most impressive half MSU has played sinceā€¦ early December? That doesnā€™t seem particularly controversial to me.

Iā€™d say the 2nd half vs Rutgers in the win was better. 40-23 differential vs 52-31 in this game. So this game is a slightly larger differential but I think Rutgers is a notably better team. Thatā€™s fairly pedantic though.

With regards to ā€œimpressiveā€: yes MSU played well relative to expectations, and itā€™s the best they played in a while, but needing a your best half of basketball potentially since December to beat a mediocre IU team is only impressive when you consider the situation MSU is in. In a vacuum it wouldnā€™t be called impressive.

Ok, if weā€™re talking on a relative basis, thatā€™s different. Not a super high bar.

And I donā€™t think you can leave out what a willing participant the Hoosiers were. The combination of outright mistakes and allowing sparty to play to their very very limited strengths was impressive.

See, I personally think Richie Pitino is the most Amaker like experience possible

Richie has at least made the tournament. Archie hasnā€™t made a tourney with Indiana

Gophers beat UM/OSU/Iowa at home this year, itā€™s only right that they complete the sweep today

Okay, Little Richieā€¦time to shine.

RIP his mentions. :joy:

(For the record I agree 100% with his take)

If Minnesota can pull this off, then all of a sudden the Michigan-OSU game becomes the highest leverage game of the season.

Bardoā€¦ FML

Well, itā€™s late enough in the day. Time to crack a beer and play the Bardo drinking game. Better have a couple full cans next to the couch; they wonā€™t get warm.

That wasnā€™t a foul on Carr, that was a travel.

Whatā€™s the game? Drink every time he names a second string center as his favorite player in the conference?

Giving up a transition layup after a make on the other end is so frustrating

There it is!

Do I have the energy/motivation to once again watch Illinois struggle with another team for 40 minutes but inevitably escape with the W? Ah, probablyā€¦
