Yeah, they’re picked 3 or 4 in the conference. I don’t tihnk they’re the team to beat per se, but I think conference title is not an unreasonable goal (though not an expectation).
I think I remember hearing about that but I had forgotten. He’s tight with Duncan Robinson and he would do workouts with a lot of the guys from the team back then. Good for him.
It’s off topic here, but I’m not sure how many women’s basketball threads we need - I’m just amazed at the growth in the game overall in the last 10 years or so. I watched Game 2 of the WNBA finals two nights (which was an OT barnburner), and while I had been watching women’s college ball, hadn’t seen much pro. Obviously, Taurasi is well known but seeing dunks, people finishing layups through hard contact, and a ton of 3’s…the gap between the two games at this point really is just size and vertical leap.
Dilk just had a super-rough year. I don’t think she’ll end up fulfilling her recruiting profile promise, but we know she can be better, because she has.
Nolan is the one player left we know can make 3’s…I have a hard time thinking she won’t play a bunch.
She had a really nice first two years and then leveled off. I don’t see any reason she can’t have a strong senior year.
Sidor looks like their best 3 point shooter at times, but she didn’t play much last season.
I’m pretty sure Nolan started when Brown was out? It seems like with both starting forwards gone, she will take one of the slots.
I like Dilk, but that would be a huge improvement. She seems more like a combo guard when I watch. Valuable, but not a true PG. if she has an on game though she can be lights out. I’d love to see her put it all together.
I agree, compared to some teams Michigan’s shooting was generally not lights out.
I interpreted it as top 5 nationally, contend for the conference title/top tier? I can see that.
I agree with the above that Naz improving her passing and shooters punishing triple teams inside with triples would really help.
Varajao definitely showed glimpses two years ago. Hopefully the time off was used well (no reason to think it wasn’t).
If they go small again. Nolan’s only 5’11".
I recall lots of workout videos on IG, while she was at home in Brazil.
Johnson and Brown were listed as 6 foot and 6’1” (though played bigger - Johnson was the second best rebounder on the team w/ 6 a game, and Brown the best shot-blocker) so purely height may be ok…purely on a per minute basis she was a better rebounder than Brown. Dilk is a good rebounder with plus size too from the PG spot.
I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a Nolan homer because she arguably has the biggest personality on the team.
AK seemed more than an inch taller than Nolan in person but I didn’t see either of them standing next to Beilein, so I can’t be sure.
The AP poll came out and we’re ranked #11.
Not a great start for the women. Beat IUPUI in overtime. At least they survived. Naz had 30 and 15
I think our PG hurt her knee like 10 seconds in
Max and Brown combine for 48. Rest of team only had 19. According to the box score, didn’t seem like Dilk played
Knee injury according to BigB.
Amy Dilk went down with an apparent knee-injury a minute into the game. It didn’t look or sound good. I’m hoping it was just a sprain but I’m worried for her.
