Michigan Players in the NBA

Last time I saw Zak in the G-League, he was ballin’. Looked like a totally different dude. Knicks are still a train wreck, however (sigh).

I believe he took like 8 3s all season. Totally different player.

Awesome for Derrick - I read an article in two Clippers blogs about his signing, it sounds like he endeared himself to the writers at least with his tough defense and smart steady play. Both made the comment that he was their 2nd best point guard (after Beverly, better than Landry Shamet and Terrence Mann) in ore-season.

Good for DWALT, I hope he sticks. This would be a great situation for him as a facilitator. He’s surrounded by great players and can score if left open. I’m not surprised a head coach, who was a former point guard, understands the value of possessions and running the team.

What’s up with Tim McCormick seemingly being the #1 source for what’s going on right now?

Beilein intentionally shared very little information. Prospects would show up on campus for visits without us having any idea, we’d get almost zero insight into practice in the preseason. Seems like Juwan is more open with sharing. And Tim McCormick is about as connected as you can get in Michigan and the youth scene since he runs the NBA top 100 stuff.

Morris played the 3 in Detroit. Markieff plays the 4.

Did he say break some NBA news? Something else? What do you mean by the #1 source?

I feel like he usually tweets stuff out in early season practices, even under Beilein.

Not breaking news just saying it seems like he’s the only one who has tweeted seemingly-sourced stuff about practice/philosophy/Juwan

Tim McCormick is very close with Juwan. Tim has recently been quoted as saying on Juwan’s Official Visit in 1990, Tim was working out at Crisler and Steve Fisher asked him to show Juwan some low post moves. Ended up working out with him for 90 minutes that day. They have a long history. Tim also runs the NBA top 100 camp and has access to many other top prospect camps.

That said, you still have to put that LLP filter on anything Tim says. My input.

Not to bore the rest of the board, but Morris’s Detroit days are 3 years in the past, and he spend the last 2 years playing a grand total of 100 minutes at SF, the rest at PF.

I agree he may be asked to play some 3 in NY because their roster composition is asinine, but he’s part of what’s making it asinine.

Jamal will play this season, too young to retire

FYI, 6 former UM players on display tonight. Not sure how many minutes they’ll get, but will be interesting to check the box scores postgame. They are:

My BOY Trey Burke!! (Give him some minutes 6ers!)
Caris LeVert
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Iggy Brazdeikis
Moe Wagner
Duncan Robinson

Oh and John Beilein’s Cavs lost to the Magic earlier

I hope Trey gets a chance…the Sixers running the hero ball offense along with the Knicks. Not sure that gets it done in today’s NBA.

Levert extended for 3 yrs, 52.5m

Feels like a solid bargain for the Nets, to be honest.
