Michigan Players in the NBA

Iggy is not in a typical situation for a 2nd round. Knicks want him enough to trade-up their draft for him.

Nowadays, if youā€™re in the top 45 youā€™re almost assured of 2 years of guaranteed money. The final 15 picks are often made by teams that donā€™t want to fill a roster spot so itā€™s more of a crapshoot there. Iggy was 47th, so very close to 45 and teams seem to like utilizing the 2nd round picks more and more every year.

If Westbrook lands in Miami maybe the Pistons pick up Duncan. Russ needs the ball in his hands, not sure he fits well with the ball movement strategy in todayā€™s NBA. Of course Iā€™ve heard they may try to play with two balls with Jimmy in Miamiā€¦gotta keep everyone happy. Clearly just selling tickets.

Knicks also locking in a lot of 2-yr contracts; trying to create big cap flexibility for the Summer of 2021. Seems like they have low/moderate expectations for this coming season, which should allow Iggy potential time to make mistakes and acclimate to the NBA.

It will be fun watching their fan baseā€™s hope get destroyed again in 2021.

NYK is such a poorly run organization. But, still, good opportunity for Iggy to get some extended run early in his career

And Fizdale is a respected coach, so that could pay benefits for Iggy down the line.

Yep. Their problem is the owner and he isnā€™t going anywhere.

I hope Iggy shows out his first few years and then gets a great second contract with a much better franchise.

do not see Duncan get affected, his contract is cheap, and Westbrook needs shooters around him.

The Thunder wonā€™t be getting Robinson in such a trade - the Westbrook contract is the worst in the NBA short of John Wall - theyā€™d likely be getting a few of the Heatā€™s mediocre deals - Waiters, James Johnson, Kelly Olynyk.

Given that right now the Heat are carrying 12 contracts - the league minimum - including the Robinson and Maten partial guarantees, Iā€™m having a hard time seeing how they carry a full roster without picking up his deal, especially if they do the Westbrook deal.

Most of the rumors seem to be focusing on Dragic, Winslow, & picks ā€¦depending on trade exemptions Miami would need to add another $3-5m to make the math add up (Adebayo or Anderson would do the trick).

In any event, Duncanā€™s contract isnā€™t enough to make the math match in trade scenarios for Russ, not enough value on his own for OKC to value him in a rebuild, and would seem to be a good floor spacer for MIA spot alongside Russ & Butler.

Any team who isnā€™t a surefire contender that gives up any of their future assets for Westbrook is crazy. That is why I am praying the Pistons stay away from this, especially after the Blake Griffin debacle. Being pathetic and having even just respectable future assets is far better than being mediocre and having none.

Jordan Poole another big game last night.

Looks like old man Poole had the right idea. Jordan is looking pretty good.

Weā€™re obviously getting far afield here, and we largely agree on Robinsonā€™s role but I canā€™t see the Thunder getting anything of actual value for Westbrookā€™s deal (I think Adebayo and Winston have value on those deals) - I thought their best hope was to break the one massive bad deal (Westbrook) for 2-3 smaller bad deals (Johnson, Waiters, etc). Dragic makes sense because heā€™d have nothing to do with Russā€™ arrival. Especially Winslow - he finally started hitting shots at volume and showed he can initiate their offense with the ball in his hands.

If Presti got Winslow or Bam he should get a statue built outside Chesapeake Arena!

Awesomeā€¦catch the ballā€¦shoot the ballā€¦put millions in the bank!
