Michigan Players in the NBA

Iggy…making it count! Well done…money in the bank!

Everytime I listen to One Shining Pod, I remember how surprisingly little they seem to know about basketball.

I find them to be quite knowledgeable and extremely funny.

They are pretty insufferable. They definitely have a “look what my rich uncle Bill let’s us do” vibe to them

They definitely have some very bad takes sometimes. I think a lot of it can be chalked up to being national guys so they can only have a shallow knowledge of 60 teams as opposed to deep knowledge on a few.

I think I’m just exhausted by the Bill Simmons style and they sound way too much like their mentor (super basic surface level commentary, Sports!!! And pop culture!!!, driving the same three jokes and topics into the ground relentlessly).

GRIII joining Poile with Golden State. GSW loading up of B1G talent this summer? Poole, Russell, now Robinson…to go along with Draymond

That will be fun to watch…three balls everywhere

totally OT, but OKC and Houston just made another trade to reunite Harden with Westbrook

Easily the most eventful offseason ever

So many teams can potentially win the Championship next year. It’s going to be a crazy season.

Genuinely, I think 10-15 teams have a realistic potential to make the finals.

Hopefully this solidifies Duncan with the Heat.

But not the Pistons

I think 15 is high, but 10 sounds about right. Warriors, Lakers, Clippers, Rockets, Jazz, Nuggets, Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, Nets, Raptors. Though outside, the 76ers, I don’t think any of those East teams would stand a chance in the West (Nets would if Durant was healthy). Only including the Raptors in there because the East is fairly weak.

True. Not the Pistons, but to be honest, I’ve really been impressed with their summer league team so far. You can argue about their talent, but they seem to be well coached and really move the ball. Up to this point, they’ve been on a roll.

I can’t stand Bill, but I do like OSP quite a bit. I don’t really look for them to give me analysis though, it’s an entertainment pod, I could see if you were looking for them to give you insight how it would get old. It’s basically a podcast version of a shitpost but they can be pretty funny.

Pacers are a dark horse!

At least that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself.

Bill Simmons is great at finding talent. Grantland and The Ringer had/have some of my favorite writers for sports and pop culture. Can’t stand him for anything else, however. Not insightful at all. And I hate Boston everything (outside of Tom Brady or whatever Michigan player is playing for a Boston franchise).

I read Club Trillion when Titus was first gaining some notoriety, so it’s got a soft spot in my heart as I’m about the same age as him. OSP isn’t particularly insightful or anything like that. I do think they have the heartbeat of fans that follow game by game but don’t look too much deeper than that. Basically sports fans before blogs and forums where psychopaths like us spend alot of our time reading and researching about our teams.

The NBA is pretty interesting - Mo is having a rough summer League and after not showing much last year could normally be at risk now - but he’s on a team that has so little at this point that they have no option other than to roll him out there and see what happens this year.

Duncan has really done nothing but excel but he’s precarious for a roster sport because his rights are held by a team that, while not great, has a number of NBA caliber players.

Mo is still young and the summer league is like the Y league. I think he’s a good fit on the right team that values spreading the floor and his 3 point shooting. He’ll be around for a few more years IMO.

He really needs to show something this year - his first team option will be after this season, and as a first round pick it’s a high enough dollar value that it’s not a given it will be picked up. If it’s not, things can start getting wacky for him.

My pauses are twofold: first, he’s not that young - he’s close to the same age as guys like Justise Winslow and Aaron Gordon.

Second - the Summer League is certainly Y style ball, but have you seen that Wizards roster? It’s tough to succeed when surrounded by top to bottom incompetence (I see no way Beal stays there all year).
