still 18 guys on that list, so tbd who’s on the real roster
Felt like about 25% of drafted players this week were from France so I assume they would be a great team. Only slightly sarcastic as I’m skeptical all of those draft picks are going to work out.
They have won the last two silver medals in the Olympics.
Mo and Caleb are out there, for the moment:
Likely heading in two different directions here
Overseas for Caleb and back to Orlando for Moe?
That’s my thought
Same here.
TPTSNBN had Jake Fischer on, and he said that he thought the Magic would basically sign Mo to 1+1’s in perpetuity at around the vet minimum. Mo is worth more than that, but also clearly prizes playing with his brother
A lot of Magic fans are rather high on Caleb (given that he is 22 and shot 40% from 3 on a team that can’t shoot - and actually played some decent minutes down the stretch). I think it’s almost guaranteed he gets a short-term contract.
Well the coaches don’t seem to high on him based on minutes allocation
He did average 20+ minutes in the last 10-15 games and played…Ok. Of course, at that time, Cory Joseph was the starting PG, so maybe it was just attrition rather than any positives for Caleb (but he was solidly above Jett and Da Silva…).
7mpg in the playoffs.
Maybe they bring him back, but it would be a leage minimum, and I’d think it’s a contingency plan
In other news, I think the Kennard deal (1 year, $11 mil) is roughly the template for Duncan.
Duncan declined 19m player option to seek a multi-year contract. Certainly his team is not looking for 1 year $11m deal.
well I mean I want a pony
Kennard - 1 year, $11 mil
Gary Trent - 2 years, $7.5 mil (total) ($3.75 mil per year)
Sam Merrill - 4 years, $38 mil ($9.5 mil per year)
He may get more years, but hard to see him getting enough years to make turning that $19 mil in hand down worth it
Yeah I was pretty surprised that he turned down the player option.
I sort of assumed he had a deal in hand when he did it, but doesn’t seem to be the case
Like, Merrill’s deal is prrrrooobbbbaably worth it for him? But Merrill is 2 years younger and a passable defender?
FWIW, TPTSNBN is also asking the “uh, so what is Ivey’s place here?” question.
Holy cow that Sam Merrill extension done just 3 days ago looks pretty brutal for Cleveland after seeing what similar guys got. I mean he’s good but no world in which he’s that much better than GTJ.
