Trent is a serious discount, yeah. My theory is that because it’s a 1+1, he’s going to get back on the market in a year when all these teams are clearing cap space
What is this? I mean I remember what it is, but if you could remind the rest of the board here that would be great.
Dunc’d On podcast
For whatever reason whenever I mentioned it by name it prompted a debate about whether the podcast was good (I think it is) rather than the topic at hand, so I changed it, Harry Potter style, to The Podcast That Shall Not Be Named
I think they initially got pushback here because they were calling Troy Weaver the worst GM in the league 3 years prior to this board accepting it as fact
it’s MGL coming up with increasingly baroque ways to describe a podcast to which he believes he’s being persecuted for listening
Hey watch it buddy
A fake name for an NBA podcast because it was pointed out that guys who podcast about the NBA all year might not be infallible in their scouting reports of college players.
You’re seriously writing this post and calling me passive aggressive?
I actually had forgotten which podcast it was
the system works!
I’m not sure how to explain it other than that! I don’t think anyone has anything against the podcast, especially relating to random stuff like NBA contracts or whatever.
I’m not sure why else you refer to it that way other than to make some point about a conversation about Stephon Castle a year ago or something like that.
because it was a f*ckin bit, dude
first bit that’s ever been run into the ground here, obviously
OK, fair enough. Edited my post.
This should be the time to reference the pod by name though! This is presumably their bread and butter time. The whole original point IIRC was about parachute draft analysts who don’t watch college hoops.
I listened to a couple of NBA podcasts pre-draft that proved that genre is still very much alive, FWIW. Hell, we barely get anyone on TV during the draft who watches college basketball.
as mentioned at the time, there’s a huge difference between “watches Michigan-Nebraska midweek late tip”, “puts in the work grinding tape on Synergy”, “only watches March Madness”, and “is Kendrick Perkins”
They did just drop 40 minutes on the Myles Turner thing.
I don’t know what the Pacers offered him, but if he left for $25 mil/year the offer was too low
Lol this is a joke:
“There is certainly more dust to settle from Myles Turner landing in Milwaukee, as ESPN reports. I’m being told the big man wanted to remain with the Pacers, who he helped lead to the Finals, but Indiana’s offers for Turner never truly exceeded the three-year, $60 million range ,” Fischer wrote.
Same. Knowing the name would help. I can’t be relied upon to remember such things.
Random sports trivia? Sure. Podcast names? Never.
Pacers didn’t want to pay the luxury tax. Idk the mechanics of their cap situation rn, but I’m guessing $20MM/yr is all they could offer without going into tax territory.
Agree that it’s a joke though. We went all these years of Myles Turner trade rumors and he walked out the door for free.

Definitely a sliding scale. And I feel like Kendrick Perkins NBA takes are the same deal. So I don’t even know what II do with that.
The draft thing is hard because to do it well and produce draft content you have to be an expert on both — which would be really hard to do.
So someone like me that doesn’t care about the NBA or ever watch until the playoffs, basically isn’t going to have a worthwhile publishable draft take.
I look at the draft as basically a sheer valuation thing. I don’t care at all how good people end up in the NBA, I’m just trained to think about whether they look like guys that will get drafted. That’s all that matters.
NBA focused people are just the opposite.
If I were someone like Sam Vecenie who does the work on both ends of the spectrum. I would be driven insane by people who parachute in in April and May.
Same parachute deal — only much worse — with the NCAA Tournament.
I think it’d be #fun to watch Cade spray passes to Duncan Robinson
Duncan isn’t returning to the Heat and the Pistons are the only one being mentioned in pursuit of Duncan. He can fill the Beasley role as a spacer.
Some of the Pistons fans have a weird take that Duncan is a worse shooter and defender than Beasley. They’re just coping big time. Duncan and Beasley have similar 3 pt % at a similar shooting volume. Both aren’t good defender but Duncan is bigger and is a wing.
