Very predictable! Probably good in the long run but wild that right now they are practicing with 6 guys that will be on the actual team. That is not good considering the main issues are team based and not talent based.

I havenā€™t followed it closely, but havenā€™t we also been manhandled on the boards in the two losses? Thatā€™s where a ā€œtrue centerā€ would be valuable. Seems crazy to me that the US doesnā€™t have any really good centers anymore. I get that it is going out of style, but just seems so odd. Would Ayton be a candidate if he wasnā€™t in the finals?

Ayton is not eligible from what I understand. Believe heā€™s capped to the Bahamas.

But I agree about your other point. Plus there arenā€™t many bigs that we should be afraid of with no Serbia and no Lithuania. Having said that, Deandre Jordan was key for USA in 2016 just completely controlling the paint and grabbing shots off the rim. So they could try to do that but I just donā€™t see many good options there

Itā€™s kinda wild that this yearā€™s playoffs was basically the year of the young NBA superstar but the Olympic team doesnā€™t really reflect that. Wish Ja Morant or Trae Young got a call, this team needs a PG.

Jaā€™s lack of jump shot scares me for this purpose. Traeā€™s lack of defense scares me. Iā€™d love to have Trae though just cause I love him

Westbrook is the Ja facsimile and in 2012 he was the 3rd PG behind Deron Williams and CP3 because they were better all around players, could command an offense but also knock down spot up 3s spacing the floor for the other superstars

It didnā€™t feel like it watching the games (although Nigeria outrebounded them). It was more that they were getting bombed from deep and then giving up a few wide open dunks off breakdowns.

Trae would alleviate the playmaking issues. They really donā€™t have one on the team. His vision and passing are elite IMO. I think itā€™s less of an issue in FIBA as opposed to NBA.

Bronze if weā€™re lucky

Huh? No PG? Not anyone better than these guys? Puzzling

Lol^ at that and the tweet

Basically as I was expecting. Keldon is with the team and has been practicing which has value. McGee is a big and probably the best they could find in short notice

I mean Iā€™d take Dwight Howard over Javale. Has that experience that the USA claimed was so valuable that Love had.

pop needs be fired as team usa coach and new management team needs to be put in place

Javale is better than Dwight at this point. Also guys donā€™t like Dwight

Fair enough but If USA was looking for a guy with experience and looking for a big then Dwight wouldā€™ve been the guy. Thatā€™s what Pop was saying when they selected Love. His experience was too valuable to pass up basically.

FWIW, theyā€™ll add Jrue at PG in a couple weeks.

Even Jrueā€™s only a point guard in the Lilliard mold.

The management isā€¦ wait for it! Jerry Colangelo!!! He should not be anywhere near basketball at all. He ruined Sixers and is now ruining Team USA

Iā€™ll admit that I didnā€™t track either closely in 2021, but in 2020, Iā€™d strongly disagree with your first statement.

Fair enough point on team chemistry.
