Isaiah Livers declares for 2020 NBA Draft

I know their situations are different, and I am encouraged by what Isaiah has said since the announcement.

But to Dot’s point, we can’t forget that Isaiah’s first choice is to NOT be on the roster next year.

Right, but at this point there’s a good chance it isn’t his choice to make.

That’s because the announcement was in error.

It seems like the athletic department had two versions ready based on Isaiah’s final decision, and they accidentally sent the wrong one. I think that’s coloring part of the perception here.

Matthews got injured during the combine process. if not for that he would have bounced.

No, I don’t think so. He wasn’t invited to the 2018 combine. He got injured last year in a workout for the Celtics. Wilson was the guy who had some injuries (in 2017) and couldn’t work out for teams but stayed in anyway, as I recall.

Matthews injured his wrist (I believe) during his first NBA process. That definitely played into his decision to come back.

Most of the ranked kids came to Michigan to play in the NBA…Liver’s has earned the right to make the jump. I will pull for him wherever he plays. If your school is a Blue Blood you should want your kids to jump…the 5 star kids we are recruiting see UM as a stepping stone not a permanent residence. Juwan is selling the league and that he can get them to the promised land. He’s probably not telling them they can make six figures in four years.

Four experts break down NBA outlook for Michigan’s Livers, Wagner, Simpson, Teske

Funny to me that they call Wagner “soft.” That is one of the last adjectives that would come to mind with him

I stand corrected:

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I think he’s referring to resilience. Wagner like his brother relishes a fight, but he did have a tendency to grow a little frustrated at times, especially early on in the season. He had his reasons. I don’t think that over time teams will think that he lacks grit.

If he does come back, what a great voice to have as a captain and leader for next years team. Phenomenal kid

Without question.

As someone said, it would be true to form for Livers to stay in the draft and Tillman come back to MSU.

I really dove into the prospects out there in this years draft for the first time and I truly believe it’s on his best interest to come back.

Not that it’s a particularly good draft but it is pretty deep and I don’t see how he can get a guarantee from a team in round 1 or 2, particularly with no work outs to make an impression.

He needs to come back and have a big year ( and a healthy one) so he can show teams his true value imo.

What if that doesn’t happen? Either cause he just plays like he did or he gets injured again? Not a lot of seniors fly up draft boards. Did you dig into next year’s draft to compare?

I agree with your take but there is so much uncertainty around college life. It’s yet to be determined what college hoops looks like next year and how that impacts life on campus. It seems like an early start time for some in August and departure at Thanksgiving break with return in late January. The question, how will NCAAM react to the adjusted schedules vs. the NBA/GL opportunity? Of greater concern could be workout restrictions and access to UM facilities. The new normal will make decision making more difficult for many.
