I’m sort of surprised Walton hasn’t been a COVID call-up somewhere in the NBA. He’s really been excellent in the G league (probably our best alum) and I realize he has no “upside” at this point but it seems like he could be able to step in and run a team for five minutes at a time.
Walton called up to Pistons due to COVID issues on team. Starting tonite.
Jon Horford getting ready to run for the State House of Representatives.

Seems on brand. He had some feelings and a lot to say about them.
How is he 30 already?
We could really use him this year. I don’t like taking shots at Jones because he simply is not a good fit for this Michigan team. Smith would have been.
Dang…awesome for Mike! He’s one of those rare players that doesn’t look like he should be able to compete at that level and yet can get his shot and fit in fine.
The number of step back jump shots he hits in those highlights might exceed the number he took all of last season for us. Wow.
I never thought about who announces these G-League games. Apparently it is one guy in a basement using a 1980s quality mic.
I think it’s boutros actually
I still remain perplexed how Luke Kennard became a solid NBA rotation player while Stauskas topped out as a good GL player with no NBA success
Kennard is a career 40% 3 pt shooter in the NBA while Nik shot 35% in his career. Nik has struggled to adjust to it for whatever reason.
I know that’s WHY things turned out the way they have. I just can’t figure out why Stauskas couldn’t shoot in the NBA. Clearly last night shows he has every shot in his arsenal. Kennard sucks at defense, isn’t particularly athletic, and is pretty one dimensional - just like Stauskas. I just don’t know why the shooting didn’t translate.
I do think he ended up in at TERRIBLE situation from the draft and never really got a chance to play enough or be well coached to find a role. I don’t actually think Duncan is a significantly better shooter or player than Stauskas but the way the Heat developed him turned him into such a more effective role player.
On a heater…
As for the Stauskas v Kennard debate, I think Nick’s problem is that he’s not a fluid athlete. I don’t think he’s a tough guy to chase around screens (so he’s not going to be a Kyle Korver type) and he’s not going to break people down the way he could in college.
Remember Kennard was a pretty high rated high school prospect.
League this man
I thought as high schoolers that Luke was a slightly better version of Nik, but it’s hard to argue that any year that Luke had at Duke topped Nik’s sophomore year
