Former Michigan Players NOT in NBA

So, as I’ve clearly not watched any of these, commentary limited, but if you care:

Xavier Simpson is averaging 5 points, 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 turnovers in about 20 minutes a game. He’s shooting 50% from the floor and made 1 of his 3 three-point attempts.

DJ Wilson is averaging a double-double playing alongside Simpsons - 11.5 points and 10 boards. He’s shot 49% from the floor, but his three-pointer (18% on 3 attempts a game) has been lacking.

Jon Teske is averaging 5 points and 6 boards a game and…4 assists a game? Interestingly, he’s shot 2 threes a game in their 4 games thus far.

Charles Matthews has only played in 1 game (the others 4), but scored 11 points on 6 shots and had 8 rebounds in 23 minutes.

I think we all knew that Nik Stauskas would be the sort of quadruple-A player who was going to throw up massive numbers in the G League…and he has. He’s scoring nearly 26 a game in 38 minutes, and taken 30 threes in 3 games (making 40% of them).

Derrick Walton has only played 1 game, but it was a good one, barely missing a triple double for the Cruise - 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists (1 turnover). He shot well from three (2/5) but missed 7 of his ten 2’s.

Chaundee Brown has also only played 1 game…and again, it was good - a 23/10 with 4 assists on 14 shots.

You didn’t know Livers had his shins removed and got diagnosed with Vitiglio?

Nah thats what he always looked like, its just without Beilein in the picture, there’s no frame of reference for anything.

Again, I haven’t seen any of this, but here goes:

Xavier Simpson is averaging 5.6 points and 4.6 assists in 21 mpg for the OKC Blue. Turnovers creeping high, with 3 per game.

DJ Wilson is averaging nearly a double-double playing alongside Simpsons - 11.5 points and 9 boards. He’s shot 44% from the floor, but his three-pointer (19% on 2.5 attempts a game) has been lacking.

Jon Teske is averaging 7 points and 6 boards a game and kept the assists rolling, dishing out over 3 per game. He’s also tossing in over a block per game.

Charles Matthews is only scoring about 4 ppg in 10 minutes.

Nik Stauskas is still taking a flame-thrower to the G-League (not surprising he’s a AAAA player), putting up a 21/6/4 in over thirty minutes. There is a definitely chucker aspect here - shooting 42% from the floor and only making 31% of 7 three-point attempts per game. He’s also up to 2.5 turnovers. I continue to be confused as to what he’s doing in the G league.

Derrick Walton is scoring over 12 points per game. While not shooting very well (37%/30%) he’s dropping 5.5 assists and pulling in nearly 5 boards a game.

Chaundee Brown recently signed a 2-way contract but has yet to play in LA. In the G League, he’s at a 19/6 in 34 minutes per game. His three point shooting is bit iffy so far - 33% of his nearly 7 attempts per game.

Isaiah Livers played! He shot 2/14 from the floor in his one game.

Mike Smith is putting up a 9/3/2 in 21 minutes per game, and shooting quite well - 43% from the floor and 50% from three.

He has yet to play, but it appears as if Jordan Morgan signed with AEK Athens, a mid-tier greek team. In Greece, everything is either Olympiacos or Panathinaikos (8 of the 13 teams have negative point differentials while those two are +100 or more). It looks like AEK plays in the Europe Champions League (the top FIBA league, but behind the the private-run Euroleague that gets the top teams).

Muhammad Ali Abdur Rahkman is playing in Poland with Legia Warszawa, who is 6th in a 16 team league - he’s averaging over 14 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. Legia plays in the Europe League (the 2nd tier FIBA league, thus 4th level overall on the continent) and went 6-0 in pool play of the 32 team pool round, and have advanced to the 16-team pool round, where they’ve yet to play.

I was at the game tonight. It was fun to watch DWalt, Isaiah and Mike play. DWalt and Mike were both on the floor making key plays down the stretch. Mike’s hair is still awesome. You’d be proud of all three of them for the way they interact with their teammates and the officials. If you’re ever in the area and get a chance to check out a game, don’t hesitate. Lots of players you’ll remember from college, a very nice gym, and incredible value.

I can never help noticing the officials at any game. If tonight is a reflection of the future of NBA officials, then the game is in good hands. No look-at-me showmen or defensive postures. Just solid calls, simple mechanics (they don’t make up their own signals), and lots of calm conversation (even some smiles). Great to see, and some of the college officials we watch could learn a thing or two from them.

Yeah, I second this. Motor City Cruise is good value. Especially when Saben Lee is putting up 40/night.

Smoother and more athletic than anyone else on the floor. What a night. What’s he doing in the G (I don’t follow the NBA, so I have no idea)?

Think they just want to get him as many reps as possible as the lead guard.

He’s gotten shots with the Pistons but gets lost in the speed and athleticism at NBA level. Doesn’t get those wide open 3s or easy paths to the basket off a simple ball screen at top of the key that he feasts on in the G League. And his jump shot is so slow he can’t get it off if a NBA level defender is close. He’ll get run in the G League to keep him sharp and hope he’ll eventually figure it out with his sporadic chances with the Pistons.

The most athletic guy on the floor in a G league game can get lost in the speed and athleticism at the NBA level. It is amazing how many different levels there are at the pro level in any sport.

His athleticism translates. He just needs more experience so they are bouncing him back and forth between the Pistons and the Cruise based on the schedule to maximize his opportunities.

They’ll probably do the same with Livers once he’s back in game shape.

This can be described as “The Stauskas”. Basically a AAAA player who’s too good for the G-league but who’s role isn’t as obvious or successful at the NBA level.

I thought he looked pretty decent in the summer league, especially toward the latter part. Guys do improve. Hopefully he’ll get another shot.

Played D3 soccer, and if this ain’t the truth. Going from travel to college was crazy, but our scrimmages against D1 and D2 teams was eye popping. I played with and against players who went D1 and D2, but never against an entire team of them. First time in my life it felt like there was nothing i could do to somehow change the outcome of my surroundings. Extremely humbling lol
