Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Penn State with great energy early.

no it was offense. TJD dunked and slapped

Getting tight. Looking for the moment Brad Davison swings the game with a flagrant to get PSU across the finish line

We used to slap the backboard alot back in the 90s on layups, not sure why you donā€™t see it much anymore. But I never saw someone get Tā€™d for it.

How do you not get a shot off?

PSU running the Nebraska last shot offense.

Indiana, please hire Dane Fife. Do not look in the direction of a currently unemployed coach residing in Ann Arbor.

I have a hard time believing that Beilein would take a B1G job and compete against Michigan.

I hear a lot of Beilein to IU speculation- count me in for thinking thereā€™s no way that would happen. Beilein is way too smart to go somewhere where the fans are going to lose their mind if heā€™s not a top ten program in 18 months.

Iā€™m not really commenting on whether he would. But what I do know is that John Beilein is incredibly competitive and wants to compete at the highest level. If Indiana is his best chance for that I think heā€™d consider it.

Agreed. My point is that Indiana is absolutely not his best chance and I think he knows that. Guess weā€™ll see. My prediction is Notre Dame and if not Notre Dame then Boston College.

my prediction is he enjoys retirement and stays retired

Boston College is a terrible job. Not much of an opportunity to compete. Plus IIRC there was a report they reached out to JB and he said no. Or am I making that up?

I donā€™t think Notre Dame fires Brey.

That leaves Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, as the options of programs that have some solid potential.
Depaul maybe? Thatā€™s a bad job though. If Marquette moved on from Wojo that would be a fit.

Geography will be important; heā€™s said so in the past. Thatā€™s a mark for Indiana.

I definitely agree with the geography piece. Notre Dame makes more sense than Indiana in about a million different ways IMO. Keep in mind that Beilein watched Tom Crean get ran out of town ONE YEAR after winning an outright Big Ten title. I could be off base here but I just canā€™t imagine anyone with options being excited to take that job at this point.

Itā€™ll be hard for Beilein to recruit when you donā€™t know how long heā€™ll be coaching.

If Notre Dameā€™s job is available, youā€™d think so, for sure.

Beilein took the CAVALIERS JOB (i.e guaranteed failure) I donā€™t think you can say heā€™s a guy who is worried about failing.

Indiana is the place where itā€™s going to be the easiest for him to win big and he gets to stay in the midwest near his Ann Arbor family. Itā€™d shock me if heā€™d turn down IU.

Indiana is a much better job than either of those. Beilein will only take a job at a school where he has a chance to compete for a national title. Beilein took the Cavs job, I doubt heā€™s worried at all about fan pressure.

Great minds
