Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Penn State with great energy early.

no it was offense. TJD dunked and slapped

Getting tight. Looking for the moment Brad Davison swings the game with a flagrant to get PSU across the finish line

We used to slap the backboard alot back in the 90s on layups, not sure why you don’t see it much anymore. But I never saw someone get T’d for it.

How do you not get a shot off?

PSU running the Nebraska last shot offense.

Indiana, please hire Dane Fife. Do not look in the direction of a currently unemployed coach residing in Ann Arbor.

I have a hard time believing that Beilein would take a B1G job and compete against Michigan.

I hear a lot of Beilein to IU speculation- count me in for thinking there’s no way that would happen. Beilein is way too smart to go somewhere where the fans are going to lose their mind if he’s not a top ten program in 18 months.

I’m not really commenting on whether he would. But what I do know is that John Beilein is incredibly competitive and wants to compete at the highest level. If Indiana is his best chance for that I think he’d consider it.

Agreed. My point is that Indiana is absolutely not his best chance and I think he knows that. Guess we’ll see. My prediction is Notre Dame and if not Notre Dame then Boston College.

my prediction is he enjoys retirement and stays retired

Boston College is a terrible job. Not much of an opportunity to compete. Plus IIRC there was a report they reached out to JB and he said no. Or am I making that up?

I don’t think Notre Dame fires Brey.

That leaves Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, as the options of programs that have some solid potential.
Depaul maybe? That’s a bad job though. If Marquette moved on from Wojo that would be a fit.

Geography will be important; he’s said so in the past. That’s a mark for Indiana.

I definitely agree with the geography piece. Notre Dame makes more sense than Indiana in about a million different ways IMO. Keep in mind that Beilein watched Tom Crean get ran out of town ONE YEAR after winning an outright Big Ten title. I could be off base here but I just can’t imagine anyone with options being excited to take that job at this point.

It’ll be hard for Beilein to recruit when you don’t know how long he’ll be coaching.

If Notre Dame’s job is available, you’d think so, for sure.

Beilein took the CAVALIERS JOB (i.e guaranteed failure) I don’t think you can say he’s a guy who is worried about failing.

Indiana is the place where it’s going to be the easiest for him to win big and he gets to stay in the midwest near his Ann Arbor family. It’d shock me if he’d turn down IU.

Indiana is a much better job than either of those. Beilein will only take a job at a school where he has a chance to compete for a national title. Beilein took the Cavs job, I doubt he’s worried at all about fan pressure.

Great minds
