UCLA will flip with North Carolina and play Ohio State at approximately 4:15 p.m. The revised schedule was created to more closely align COVID-19 testing protocols between the competing programs and their respective conferences.
Interesting that Big Ten and ACC schools were able to play last week but this week evidently there is a disconnect between their COVID protocols.
I believe that Big Ten and Pac 12 are the only leagues that do daily testing. The Pac 12 has had a ton of games canceled and some on really late notice. Iâd guesstimate that they have some of the strictest go/no go procedures in place.
On the other hand, SEC and Big 12 appear to have the most relaxed standards of the high major leagues.
All of that is to say that it probably had to do with switching UCLA, just my guess.
That was my thought, too, regarding conference testing protocols. Just struck me as odd that there were no protocol concerns regarding the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and then the late announcement of the schedule change when it was known all along that the B1G and P12 were the most stringent in their COVID procedures.
I stand corrected. But my pointâmaybe worth persisting in makingâis that we have a comparable body of work from the two men, and Pitino has lasted longer with less success.
Am I remembering in the PSU game one of the announcers talking about Dickinson being good, then pivoting instantly to how Edy was such a good athlete? Seemed like a bit of a weird take, but I havenât watched much Purdue at all so I didnât think much of it.
Remember too, that it was Minnesota that fired Glen Mason in 2007, who at that time was just about good for a yearly 8-4 record, to hire Tim Brewster, who they had to fire in 2010 after going 1-6 to start the season and losing to lower-division South Dakota.
I live in Minneapolis, and remember at the time they fired Tubby Smith and hired Rich Pitino that they were obsessed here with the idea of hiring a hot, young coach that could be their version of Coach K.
I think we can safely say now it didnât quite work out.
I think there are some here that are still trying to make up for losing out on John Wooden.
Purdue is getting looks but largely missing them whereas OSU is doing a great job of moving the ball and finding open shooters/cutters.
EDIT: This is weird, I started the BTN stream around 7:15 and it put me at the start of the broadcast instead of where the game actually was. Took me like 20 minutes to realize this so when I was praising OSU, I was almost 8 minutes of game time behind and they had fallen behind. Just checked Yahoo Sports app and see Purdue is leading by five at the break.
Question for those who may know. Just flipped on the Purdue game and it looks like there is a limited number of fans in the stands. Is it like B1G football where itâs parents only? I assume UM has zero people in the stands because of the statewide restrictions, but I also thought I had heard the whole B1G wouldnât have fans at basketball games.
If you have fox go you have to click on live or from beginning of game which you were probably clicked on. If you were clicked on live you would pick up the game where it is at.
Down to 4 Undefeated B1G Teams. Iowa plays Gonzaga on Saturday and Rutgers plays Illinois on Sunday so the Michigan schools have a good shot at being the final unbeaten teams in the conference
