Fredrick has shot 147 threes in his college career at a 47% clip. I think heâs close to what heâs shooting. Garza may come down to earth a bit, but he also may not. This entire year from him has been absurd.
Over.
Iowa twice, @ Michigan, @ Ohio State and vs. Illinois are all passable losses. Theyâre not good but I donât think theyâre a bottom 3 team in the league.
I see three more games they could win
Iowaâs game plan is essentially: weâll both shoot open threes and weâll make more. Northwestern got a bunch of em but 6-of-18 isnât going to cut it.
Also: Northwesternâs defense is a disaster. 1.27 PPP, 1.19 PPP, 1.16 PPP and 1.15 PPP over the last four games. Only Big Ten team they held below 1 PPP was MSU.
Under. Nebraska and then one of either PSU or Maryland. I disagree with others that NW isnât one of the 3 worst teams in the league
What Big Ten team are they better than other than Nebraska?
Really surprised more teams donât take the ball at Garza. Not a good defender.
Oh yeah they both may shoot at this level all year. Frederick is absolutely elite shooter, but heâs not a 50% 3 pt shooter because nobody is a 50% 3 pt shooter.
Garza is just shooting way over his head. I donât think his true talent level is even a 45% three point shooter, I could buy him being low 40s.
Iâd take them over Penn State for sure and any given night MSU/Maryland.
PSU is probably one of the 3 worst teams, but they arenât as bad as their record. Beat Va Tech and VCU and lost on the road to Michigan and Indiana by a combined 6 points. Also blew an 8 point lead with a little over a minute left against Seton Hall.
What theyâll be after they return to playing is a different story though. Theyâve been off a long time
Yeah, Penn State is hard to gauge after this long layoff. Todayâs game at Purdue should be interesting.
Didnât take long for Beilein to bring out his auto bench policies
âthatâs a strategy I used and I was probably second-guessed on a lotâ after Matt Painter sits Trevion Williams after an early first foul.
Revisiting the post that turned me into the UMhoops resident Iowa stan ^^
Garza - 28 & 9 on 63/49/75 splits
Weiskamp - 40% from three
McCaffrey - 28% from three (I missed this one)
Iowaâs defense kenpom rank: 72nd
3rd on kenpom as of now and tied for 1st in Big Ten.
Garza somehow jumping 20% in ORTG is why theyâve been playing at such a great level. They would drop to the 10-15 range if his ORTG took a a small jump like 3%.
Iâm not going to do the actual work/research but anecdotally there seems to be a bunch more blow outs this year
Bohannon getting hot has certainly gotten me questioning the ceiling I put on Iowa. And Garza being somehow better than last year.
Garza has somehow taken a bigger leap than any of the freshman to sophomore leaps we had under Beilein.
How about the team Iowa is facing? Northwestern is getting bombed today, they got obliterated by Illinois in the 2nd half, they got hammered by Michigan, OSU shot 50% against Northwestern.
