Was it Northwestern or Rutgers that blew a lead against MSU a few years back by giving up a 40-4 run or something insane like that? I think it was the JJJ (er, Ben Carter) MSU team
All I can think of is the 2017-2018 season where NW blew like a 20 point lead to MSU at home

Not sure if I agree here. IMO, MSU’s talent this year was always sketchy. High-level starters at the forward spots. Fine but unspectacular off-guards/wings otherwise. Meh center situation. And completely unproven at point guard (with only one bullet in the chamber). Being B10 contender good relied on Rocket being an All B10 type of on-ball guard (or at the very least close to it)…and he has fallen short to say the least.

MSU is #4 in the AP Poll, #20 in KenPom. They started at #11 and dropped nine spots despite a 6-0 record including a road win at Duke. Yikes.
I think the meh center position is the biggest issue. Izzo keeps telling anyone who will listen, extremely publicly, that he expected someone to separate from the pack and no one has. Center by committee is fine but when Kithier is the best of the bunch that’s a big limiting factor.
