No Nunez hate here. Watching Bones game vs Nunez in high school, gotta tip my hat to Bones having a better all around game

2018 class could be elite. They were on a very good team with a coach who plays a small rotation and doesn’t play kids who don’t have the mental part down yet.

I think all 4 will be nice contributors or more if they stay all 4 years. Johns and Colin will be major contributors this year imo. Nunez and Ddj had a lot of nice film in high school they just weren’t ready. I’m excited to see both when given the chance this year.

Has there ever been a recruit that Michigan signed that you thought would be a bust? Austin Davis heading for an All B1G season next year while we are at it?

Can you post a link of this footage?

Yes, your in his thread potentially. There were lots of guys I didn’t want us to sign or I had preferred we went another way on. Doesn’t mean theyre bums or bad players. Michigan is a top ten program , odds are you can play or they’re not looking at you. It’s about realizing potential and fit. I’m not in favor of signing bones as I stated earlier but I’m not going to be upset if we do .

The programs in a great space and signing nice talent. I have faith it’s not going to have a down year for a bit.

Where did you hear that?

I hope you are right but we also heard glowing practice reports about Davis so it doesn’t always mean much.

Davis looked good in Spain too, sucks he couldn’t put it together. His physicality could have been nice in some games

I heard it from reliable sources. Nothing is guaranteed. I just wouldn’t write him off yet. He is probably a 3 and will probably back up Wilson/Franz next year. I think the better question is “where did you hear that he wouldn’t pan out”? We heard the same thing with other players who did pan out in the end. Heck we were all saying this about Teske after Ethan Happ abused him in his first year. It was like clubbing baby seals. Teske sucked and wouldn’t make it. Here we are 2 years later and that was a bad call by some. All I have read about Nunez on multiple sites is …I don’t think he will ever be a contributor. So I asked some people who would know. A lot more confidence that what we are reading.

From your keyboard to God’s ears…

Now THIS is what I hope umbob1 has reliable information about!

Never said that I heard he wouldn’t pan out. Just setting my expectations low based on his high school career, lack of playing time and practice buzz and what little film there is. Those ingredients don’t normally add up to surprise contributor. Hope I’m wrong.

What was wrong with his high school career? I’m not trying to attack you or single you out I just keep reading that on here and his prep year he was a good player playing in a serious league against big time comp. He also played in a tough nyc league before that.

Here’s another one that explains how he got overlooked in high school.

A good read. Makes me quite hopeful for him.

But that article says why some are skeptical: there are two anonymous D1 coaches who doubt his ability to play high major basketball. He scored 4 points a game in HS.

I mean, he may work out, but the kid was a flyer. It’s silly to pretend anyone unsure is nuts.

Being skeptical is fine. I just wouldn’t write the kid off. The article says “he can shoot the shit out of the ball”, “he is an extremely hard worker”, “great student”, “good size”. What I remember from Beilien when he recruited him was his description of his shot. His release point and quickness of his shot were 2 things that JB thought were exceptional. If you have a kid who is 6’6" and can shoot and is going to outwork many…I wouldn’t doubt him. This program can use some 4 year players for stability.

I agree with this as Mich needs to have some of these recruits to become four year players such as MAAR who when they are seniors you can lean on their experience to help lead the more talented underclassmen.

No, just one coach. You misread it.

I feel like that’s pretty much Beilein’s M.O.–outperforming expectations, silencing the doubters. But as Dylan notes in another thread–yeah–some guys haven’t proven out. (How could that not be?) And I would bet the coaches’ whole thing in this case was probably: “Let’s take a chance on this kid–could be freaking great!”

But as a matter of practice here I feel like the posts that ask a question or make observations about the program tend to be more fruitful than ‘Beilein needs to do better’ or ‘this kid has shown me nothing.’ Because there just isn’t really a lot to say to that, especially nothing that doesn’t start out defensive.

No a criticism, cause I may have done it myself. Just an observation.
