Would be an unbelievable get to pair him in the backcourt with Lavert and Walton and Irvin at the 4. He’s not Jaylen Brown but could make us an elite 8 level team

I agree. If Murry is willing to come now, you take him without question and worry about the pg spot later.
Would he be willing to come off the bench? Or are we playing Caris at 3? I don’t see it.
Murray will be an amazing player from day one – deep range, great finisher in the lane and in transition, and supremely confident. I think you gotta start him, and slide LeVert over to the three. Only problem I can see is that it may amplify the logjam at the 4 because presumably Irvin would start at the 4. But with Murray, suddenly the backcourt is at 2012-13 quality, maybe the best in college basketball. In JB’s system I can see him making a bigger impact as a freshman than a pure slasher like Jaylen Brown.
Kentucky fans have been going bananas over Murray for a while (especially since the Hoop Summit) but they can’t see him playing anything other than the three next to Ulis and Briscoe. Even if UK is the frontrunner, I think insisting that he plays the three will hurt their chances somewhat. That said, regardless of what the BBN thinks, I wouldn’t be surprised if Calipari played Briscoe backing up Ulis and Murray at the 1&2.
I’d definitely want him. I’m just not sure why he’s coming here with playing time uncertainty.
I thought I recall Murray wanting to even play some point guard even though it was clear he was more of a combo guard or a 2 guard. I’m not worried about him playing with Lavert & Walton as those two played with Stauskas 2 years ago and all 3 flourished. It might create a log jam at the 4 but none of those guys are proven to be capable players yet (Chapman, Donnall, Wilson, Robinson) so you take a guy who is being projected as a lottery pick and let it play out. We would be small but Lavert and Walton are good rebounding guards (especially Walton) and Irvin was improving as the year went on.
A lineup of Walton, Murray, Levert, Irvin, and Doyle would be a handful on the offensive end. They would be able to put up alot of points in my opinion, alot of points. But defense and rebounding would be an issue as usual.
I think we’ll give him a visit if he wants to come, but I see him more plausible as a '16 than a '15 recruit.
I think we'll give him a visit if he wants to come, but I see him more plausible as a '16 than a '15 recruit.I thought he could go right to the NBA if he played another year of prep school as an international prospect. If recruiting him as a '16 is our coaches' plan, then they must have a really good sense that he wants the college experience over $$$. Correct me if I'm wrong.
In truth, I just don't see this happening no matter what year he is.I think we'll give him a visit if he wants to come, but I see him more plausible as a '16 than a '15 recruit.I thought he could go right to the NBA if he played another year of prep school as an international prospect. He’s announcing Tuesday… Sounds like Oregon but could be Kentucky.
Maybe he pulls a Jaylen Brown and Michigan is the Cal.

Have we offered him? Maybe semantics if he wants to come. Dont remember him ever visiting
Unless there was a secret visit that nobody knew about, he’s not coming
I wasn’t very serious with my post.

Wow, Western Kentucky (presumably) but no Michigan. Hopefully that’s the result of us deprioritizing him rather than him not feeling Michigan.
I think that’s a fair assumption.
Jamal Murray to Kentucky.
Quentin Goodin adds UM back to his top 5
ESPN 100 guard Quentin Goodin tells me his final five has changed: Michigan is back in the mix, Louisville is out.

I love the fact that we replaced Louisville too
