Did anyone hear JB call Derrick Walton Derryck Thornton in today’s presser?

Tonight opened the season outplaying Marcus LoVett from Chicago’s Morgan Park

New film on DT

DT considering reclassifying to 15 in response to Louisville offer for the same. If he reclassifies, you can take UM out of the equation.

As the article states, Louisville has been recruiting him for a week. I’d say its highly doubtful (I don’t know the kid or the family) but for that to mentioned as an option this late is very unusual.

Georgetown actually convinced two different players (both from California) to graduate early and enroll there. Hollis Thompson left midway through his senior year and Stephen Domingo left after his junior year and ended up transferring back out West.

You just don’t see it very often unless a kid is moving back to his original class like Andrew Wiggins did.

DT has visits scheduled for UK, Duke, UA. Plans on setting up visits to Louisville, Cal & Miami. No mention of UM at all.

U of D defeats Consortium 62-50 to improve to 3-0. Cassius Winston had 23 pts, 6 ast, and 4 reb to lead U of D. Gary Collins added 14 pts.

I realize the staff is dedicating most of their time trying to improve this years team ( less presence with recruits right now ) but after listening to WTKA this morning, I’m almost resigned to the fact that DTJR is not coming to UM. Sam didn’t say that, but his eye is focused on other programs much more prominently than us right now, IMO. Also doubtful that Winston is coming here as well, IMO. It seems the all to familiar scenario is emerging regarding DTJR, lead early ( supposedly ) rumors of early commitment, then inevitably watch the blue bloods sweep in and score. Not optimistic at this point in hoping for a Monster 2016 class. Hope I’m wrong.

Devearl Ramsey has a chance to be an all league defender type. Unbelievable quickness and instincts. Just needs further discipline

I believe Bacari Alexander was watching Ramsey yesterday.

I’ll say this, Ramsey has been on record as saying he wants to play in an uptempo/transition offense…that’s not happening here.

This has been my fear for some time and it is starting to look more and more inevitable. No coach can win without talent, including a coach as good as JB.
I expect us to start hearing about some plan B and C type recruits as the season progresses.

Define “win”

It’s not like we’re NOT recruiting well.

Walton was a Top 10 PG
Irvin was a 5 Star on Rivals I believe
Chatman was a 5 Star on Scout and believed to be headed to Arizona
Levert…well…we hit a homerun there with a 1st round draft pick

We didn’t put anyone in the draft for YEARS then we toss out DMo, Burke, Mitch, Stauskas, Glenn…

DJ and Donnal were Top 100 players.

UConn’s coming off a National Title season and they’re sitting at 4-4.
Kentucky, followed up their National Title season by missing the NCAA and getting bumped in the 1st round of NIT.

We lost a bunch of players this year. Growing pains.

No, it’s not about growing pains, it’s about the trajectory of incoming talent moving forward relative to expectations considering on court performance. In that regard, the coaching staff has underperformed for the past 2 years assuming we don’t land Brown. It’s not about rankings, it’s about whether our recruits are upper tier athletes and players. Donnal and Wilson weren’t upper tier athletes/players out of HS. If you want to utilize rankings, they weren’t consensus top 100 recruits either, 2 sites had them in the top 100 while the other did not. We need more talented layers and better athletes that are ready to contribute from day 1if we want to be an elite program. That is the landscape of college basketball.

Who cares that that we’ve improved relative to where we were 5-6 years ago, are we improving now is the question. We had no choice but to improve because we were god awful. The next 2 years recruiting will be very telling in determining whether JB & co are a 2 hit wonder or whether they’ve really built a top notch program.

It’s my opinion and I care. College sports isn’t a formula. There’s never a steady upward trend. EVER.

Sorry if I don’t blow on your agenda.

Just agree to disagree, success is tied to recruiting more than any other factor in my opinion. And our staff has not done a very good job in that regard over the past 2 years and I think it is reasonable to expect more.

Just curious, what would you do differently?

Bottom line, when your excuses are exposed and nobody is buying your BS narrative, you resort to name calling and appeals for members to be banned.

My only frustration is that you continue to offer excuses over why our production has declined in an effort to protect JB, you can’t take the fact that the guy has failed in recruiting over the last 2 cycles.

So while you may have conceded that recruiting hasn’t been good, you continue to excuse it…just stop with the excuses. Here is the situation, good players leave and it is the staff’s job to replace those players with personnel that is just as good, if not better…doesn’t matter if you think it’s fair or not. The elementary complaining is non sense.

Have a good night sir and GO BLUE!
