Useful chart of Big Ten Tournament seeding probabilities

Updated

Gotta say, I hate the 8/9 spot… That would probably mean Iowa or Illinois and then Wisconsin.

Like the graph Dylan. It’s just so deflating with the present state of the team to even get emotionally involved with potential seed alignment, IMO. We seriously are so undermanned ( although playing valiantly ) that we may not win another game. We won’t stop competing, but it’s entirely possible that our “post season” this year will be a one and done in the B1G tourney and a season ending 11 game losing streak. We’re just so darn depleted. What a downer compared to our excitement of the past few years.

Well Michigan got a big win… Still don’t know how they end up anywhere other than that 8/9 game. Would rather play someone else than Iowa there, that’s for sure. Illinois is a matchup that I would be okay with though.

Still headed for that 8/9 game so clear your Thursday afternoon.

Hard to say those Illinois games have been anything but closely contested, so a rubber match is not a terrible scenario…

Yep. They are the best match up for Michigan IMO.

Will be very interesting because Illinois will probably need a win for their tourney hopes to remain alive. But if they lose to Nebraska or Illinois, their hopes are probably dashed anyways so they could be pretty indifferent if Groce doesn’t keep them focused.

I think you meant Purdue there but your point stands. They probably need wins in both games to even been in consideration.

I know Nebraska has been in a bit of a mess lately, but they are capable of beating Illinois and in fact already did beat them in their first matchup.

Also, their last game is @ Purdue. I just have a hard time seeing them winning there, especially considering Purdue (who I think benefited from a pretty favorable conference schedule) is playing to stay in the top 4 of the conference.

Plus our guys will be motivated more than ever knowing they were the better team for about 38 minutes and let the game slip away.

Updated chart

My prediction:

Wisconsin finishes 15-3 (loses last game @ Ohio State)

Maryland finishes 13-5 (loses to Nebraska)

Purdue finishes 12-6

Iowa finishes 12-6

Ohio State finishes 12-6 (beats Wisconsin at home)

Michigan State finishes 11-7

Indiana finishes 10-8 (beats Michigan State at home - must win game if Indiana plans on going to the tournament)

Illinois 9-9

Michigan 8-10

Minnesota 7-11

Nebraska 6-12 (calling for them to upset Maryland - Maryland has cut it close all season, Nebraska finishes disappointing season on a high note)

Northwestern 6-12

Penn State 3-15

Rutgers 2-16
