Predictions for tonight?

MattD, it's just choosing words more carefully. You actually did a fine job in this most recent post, with one notable exception that I'll point out to illustrate my point:

“a number of you a few years back thought Trey>MCW, which is a joke if we’re being honest. Just using that as an example to reference the homerism and lack of objectivity.”

Besides the fact that I could find 10 articles from non-UM sources in the next 3 minutes that predict Burke would be a better pro than MCW, I’d like to just point out one fact…

Burke was drafted higher than MCW.

So…maybe just relax and accept that those thinking that Burke could end up contributing to a high quality team are not in fact “homers” that “lack objectivity”. You can disagree without calling something a “joke”.

Voltron im done with my argument against the whole Burke has an unlimited ceiling view.

YOU can disagree with my view without saying that im “trashing” someone and then proceeding to instruct me to “unsubscribe”. Why am I guilty of trashing simply because I think Burke’s ceiling is that of a good backup and simply pointing out the statistics to back up my contention. That, in my view, is homerism. It’s not that you take issue with what I’m saying, but rather WHO I’m saying it about.

So maybe you can relax and accept the fact that there are people out here in the world, a good portion I might add, that don’t think Trey is all that good in the league without making assertions of “trashing”.

I will not respond to this thread again, but I really wanted to get that out there because you attempted to give the same “words of wisdom” with the whole Wilson thing and yet you are guilty of the exact thing you preach against.

Furthermore, I’d like to point out to those members that claim I think im a “better scout” than others - there are a multitude of members that provide their “scouting” and analysis in the Jalen Coleman and Eric Davis threads - yet nobody takes issue with that…why? Only when there is opinion offered that isn’t glowing of a player/recruit that has an official affiliation to UM is there an issue. That, in my mind, confirms my feelings of homerism and blind support.

In closing, I respect your opinion, but at the same time, let’s be mindful of the opinions of others. The reason I decided to get out of this thread was based on your “trashing” comment - at that point I could see it was getting personal, and that isn’t somewhere I want to go. I want to keep it strictly basketball without the insults.

All the best to your sir, have a great weekend and Go Blue.

Just to be clear…“unsubscribe” is a sarcastic action by me meaning “I don’t care to read this anymore”. It is most certainly not a command to you, as I think you took it, that means you should leave. Far be it from me to tell that to anyone. So I hope that clears that up, and apologies for any misunderstanding.

But again, just to be clear, it’s not exactly your opinion of Trey that I object to. While I think it’s premature, nobody is right or wrong yet. It’s the notion that in order to think that Trey has a brighter future than MCW, you are a “homer” or “lack objectivity”. You called it “unfathomable”. And while being drafted higher is not the be all end all (plenty of NBA GMs have made plenty of mistakes), it at least gives professional credence to the fact that you are going out of your way to diss Trey’s potential. So clearly it can be done in a way that doesn’t disrespect everyone you’re talking to. At least be fair to all of us and realize you are doing way more than “simply pointing out statistics that back up [your] contention”. If that was in fact what you were doing, there would be zero issues.

Since you brought up Wilson…does anything that transpired since those discussions make you think you might have been premature in your assessment?

Its not looking good for Burke.
