Questioning Coleman’s true height not Dozier’s.
Are we in on Justin Simon, Haanif Cheatnam, Antonio Blakeney,William Jackson, Tyler Dorsey, or were you just using them as references?

Supposedly we are in on Dorsey
The other kids are likely to stay regional but was to give a reference on guys that would epitomize the combos that seem to make sense in our system imo
But coach John Beilein was quick to come to his defense Monday night.
“That skinny little guy,” Beilein said on his Monday radio show “Inside Michigan Basketball” of the 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard. “Who’s got the most defensive rebounds on our team? Caris LeVert. … Who’s second in shots taken? Caris LeVert. First or second in minutes played? Caris LeVert? Second in steals? Caris LeVert. Everybody looks at points. There’s other things going on out there that a guy gets done for us. As he puts on more weight, you’ll see more good things out of him.”

lol well I guess Dorsey shut us down quick
Are we really still recruiting Corey Sanders?
“Sanders, ranked No. 61 in the country by 247 Sports in the Class of 2015, currently has offers from Tennessee, LSU, Michigan, Memphis, South Florida, Central Florida, Southern California, Marquette, Murray State and Xavier. He also has interest from Florida, Louisville, Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M.”
Back to the Caris bandwagon…
So I was on Realgm and came across this player from Louisiana-Lafayette named Elfrid Payton
- He was a 6’1’’ PG from LA who went under-recruited because he didn’t have the size and ended up signing with a mid major
- He was young for his age and should have been in a grade lower (just like Caris) so his physical development was behind his class peers
- Grew to 6’3’’ while in school and went on to have a solid sophomore season, including a game where he went for like 30 against MSU and had 7 steals
- Applies for the Chris Paul camp and gets rejected, coach calls Billy Donovan to let him tryout for Team USA as a old friend favor, Payton outplays a ton of highly touted prospects and makes the team, Chris Paul camp suddenly invites him but he now rejects it opting to go next summer
- Is enjoying a nice Junior year (really just a sophomore) and is pegged as a late lottery to middle round pick in either this or next years draft. Much higher than Nik Stauskas.
I use him because his game is similar to Caris in that they have long wingspans, great defensive tools, combo guard ability, first step, rebounding, etc
I also noted all the scouts made a big deal about him being young for his age, telling me age > experience at the college level, meaning its not the NBA where mileage is a more accurate measure
This tells me that
- We should view Caris as a freshman and in such a comparison, Caris is in the top 5 % of freshman producing at the college level
- JB and Caris need to be thinking about those skills camps and maybe a FIBA tournament AFTER the season ends
To be fair
Payton is farther along defensively and a better leaper but Caris is a better shooter, plays against better competition and is taller/longer but they generally compare similarly
I also had a thought last night that Mitch/Glenn not going to the NBA after their freshman season might have been a bad thing. Reading Carlton Bragg and Tyus Battle news stories and it is clear top recruits only care about getting guys drafted. Could you imagine our 2014 class had we gotten 4 first round picks sent off?
You are getting borderline creepy with your LeVert obsession, guestavo. I’ll hit a couple points.

If we look at Caris LeVert as a freshman this year, then what were we suppose to look at him as last year? A high school senior? In one breathe you say “we should look at LeVert as a freshman because of his age and potential” and in another breathe you say “Chatman, a freshman, will not get minutes over a 3 year player”. So which is it? Whichever one fits your agenda at the moment?

"Top recruits only care about getting guys drafted. Oh really? McGary was the #2 overall recruit when he committed. How many big men had Michigan put into the NBA? Same goes for guys like Cody Zeller, Noah Vonleh, LeBryan Nash, Quincy Miller, Steven Adams, Isaiah Austin, Anthony Bennett, and Marcus Smart? Those guys are all top 10 recruits of the past 3 years that committed to schools that hadn’t had a very impressive NBA track record. Heck, Kansas has a terrible NBA track record.

Caris was a HS player getting college minutes. Caris received 10 mpg in about 9 games worth of action. Saying Chatman will get 15-20 mpg is not contrary to any of those points being made.

I’m not sure what point you are making. All those coaches, including JB, have put players into the NBA lol. The more the merrier is the point I’m trying to make. And no, Kansas has one of the best track records in the college game.
That is why I would really like us to be pursuing a wing in 2015. Nik, Caris, and Zak all have potential to be gone two years from now.Big combo guard > wing but maybe we mean the same thing? I rather have a Nik/Caris than a Tim as far as versatility unless they’re a pro like Tim of course
For example Perry Dozier Jr over Dwayne Bacon if we get to choose
so two 6’4’’ and up combos and a true big?
All of these guys are 6’4’’ and up and have ability to play PG to SF
Perry Dozier Jr, Jalen Coleman, Justin Simon, Haanif Cheatnam, Antonio Blakeney, Luke Kennard, William Jackson, Tyler Dorsey, AJ Turner
Then again, a late bloomer project might surface in the spring
I guess we are talking about the same thing. I am taking about a Nik type player. A deadly 3 point shooter to stretch the floor. I know that Nik has nice handle and can pass well, but I’ve never considered him a “combo guard”. I consider him a SG/SF (Wing).

The only thing that makes Nik a wing and not a combo is that he doesn’t have the physical tools/ athleticism to guard a PG. Guys that can shoot, athletic, handle and pass but are 6’4’’ and above should be our standard from now on, not to say that it hasn’t been.

Discussing Caris LeVert with you is like discussing Chaning Tatum with my female friends.
Of putting guys into the NBA? Sure. Of putting guys into the NBA that are successful? Not so much. Take a look at how many McDonald’s All Americans have Kansas has had flop in NCAAB or the NBA. Getting to the league is one thing, being set up for success in the league is another.
Only in Guestavo’s world does all of this make sense.
“We will be weak at stretch 4 and need to sign a stretch 4.”
“Chatman will be a great stretch 4.”
“Chatman will play the stretch 4 his freshman year.”
“Chatman will only play 15mpg.”

Chatman is not Lebron James.

What does that have to do with my point? Kids dont care what players do once they get to the pros, only that they get drafted.
I’m on the Caris bandwagon and I will be proven right. Only Glenn is a better pro on our roster.
Do we have a legit chance with Carlton Bragg?
Do we have a legit chance with Carlton Bragg?
No
Syracuse, OSU, UK and Illinois
I also hear Jonah Bolden may not qualify…
Thanks, who are we recruiting for stretch 4 in 15? Got to think JB has some targets up his sleeve we aren’t hearing about.

JB seems to be focused on the team, not a lot of names popping up
Guys like ZImmerman, Jeter, Bragg, Elijiah Thomas, Dickerson are long shots at best at the present moment
Hope they are focusing on Jeter, got to have some targets that we got a chance at. There was the discussion about us needing a shot blocker, I hope the coaching staff looks at going at a top notch rebounder/effort guy, Think that would give us another dimension. Dickerson might be one of those recruits.
