I know how Justin must feel. My sister’s smarter than I am, too.

Prospects Nation has her as a 4-star, top-150 player. She’s not in ESPN’s top-100. Listed as either 6’1’ or 6’2".

Here’s some scouting from HBCU Sports:

"Jessica Fields has been scouted as an “elite shot blocker” and has helped lead Mount Paran High School to three consecutive Class AA state championships. Already, Fields’ decorated high school career included being a three-time First Team All-State performer and Class AA Player of the Year.

The 2025 Elite 150 prospect, who received her first collegiate offer in 2021 from Ole Miss, has scored over 1,000 points, grabbed more than 700 rebounds, and swatted 130 shots in her high school career."

Fields is from Georgia and I think Mathurin is playing at Overtime Elite in Atlanta. Is Naz helping talk up Michigan in the Peach State?

South Carolina is an auto loss for Michigan, and I would be happy if they can keep it within 30 or less. VT and OU games will be tough games. Other than it, I don’t see any tough games for the WBB.

They just added another coach:

Apparently replacing Ariel Atkins, who held that title last season.

Michigan is hiring for a new women’s PA announcer. I have voice-over experience but Covid screwed my pipes up 1 1/2 years ago so I think my window may have closed.

Thanks for posting. I still really like KBA.

I appreciate KBA’s honesty here. It was pretty crushing to watch the parade of transfers-out, and it seems like it caught her every bit by surprise like it did the rest of us.

It feels like the days of someone like an Eli Brooks or an Emily Kiser working their way through difficulty to eventually become a solid contributor/starter/leader as an upperclass(wo)man are gone. Immediate playing time is simply a transfer away. And I get it: even as someone who is loyal to a fault, if someone offered me money to come play more minutes sooner, I’d be very tempted to take it.

One of the things I loved so much about college sports was watching players develop over the years. It’s difficult to get excited for each basketball season when the team looks new every year. While this hasn’t been as big of an issue for the women’s program up until now, I think last season certainly signals that it will be going forward.

I really hope they are able to implement some things that help retain talent – especially the top-end talent they have recently brought in. I’m very excited for this freshman class and hope that we’re seeing them wear the block M as seniors.

Another impressive recruiting win for KBA and co. Beating out Louisville and Maryland says something about what recruits think about the future at U-M.
