Rumors that’s the case from SMU reporters.

Also hearing a possible Michigan-SMU basketball home-in-home series could start this year. Good idea to strengthen OOC

Sounds perfect to me.
I like it. They almost made the tourney last year and have Mudiay for the media draw. I think it will be a competitive nationally televised game.
I like it, but I hope that’s not the home/home national power JB was referring to.

Compare:
Arizona
Syracuse
VCU
Oregon
Georgetown (Edit: Villanova)
SMU
Arizona
Duke
Stanford
FSU
Charlotte
ISU
Granted, the non-con tourney won’t have all of those teams for 2014-15, but we’re already still comparable to last season. I wouldn’t expect another home and home this upcoming season because we already have Arizona/SMU (if this is true) much like we had Arizona/ISU last season. What we don’t have this season yet that we had last season was a major OOC game at a neutral site a la Stanford and WVU.
SMU seems like a solid home-and-home. Probably can go after a big fish next year when Arizona is out of the picture. The Big East event will also add some complexity to scheduling.
Why do you list Georgetown? Also the Legends draw hasn’t been set, so we don’t know yet who of VCU, Oregon, or Villinova. That would leave a possible December game open and doesn’t have to be in NY since we would have been there in end of November. Either another home game, or take the team to play in some bowl game related basketball tournament.
Most likely, Villanova is on the other side of the Legends bracket.
Sorry, yes. Was going from memory trying to not take too long to post my thoughts. Meant Villanova.
