DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN!?!?!
Edit: seems all of Danny’s 10 points came in the fourth as he closes out BK’s first home win of the season as… the primary ball-handler!?!?!

There’s my future HOFer
Better yet, Danny’s dunk was on notorious Spartan Miles Bridges
We had someone with their first post in 10 years, now it’s 11
The new gauntlet has been laid.
I’ll see you guys in 12 years.

Number 2 should be 1.
Just for convo, Dunc’d On did their Awards If The Season Ended Today:
MVP: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Jokic obviously their consensus #2) - for the record, they both gave their end of year award to Jokic last year. Giannis and Doncic were next (they do note that these two need to play more through year’s end to hold these spots). Danny gave Donovan Mitchell 5th, Nate gave fifth to Cade Cunningham - these were also their respective All-NBA first team’s. I’m not typing out 2nd and 3rd teams. Duren got considered by Nate, he made third team for Danny (over Sengun (!?)).
Devensive Player of the Year: Nate nixed Wemby for health, Danny didn’t, but both thought he was best. Followed it up with Gobert (first for Nate because he nixed Wemby), and Holmgren. Also mentioned: Bam, Hartenstein, Amen Thompson.
Coach of the Year: They both have Mark Daigneault (they just think he’s the best coach), and JB Bickerstaff second. Also mentioned - Eric Spoelstra, Darko Rajakovic, Jordan Ott, Ime Udoka.
6th man of the Year: Danny had Reed Sheppard, Nate had Alex Caruso. Also mentioned: Collin Gillespie, Ayo Dosunmu, Ajay Mitchell, Isaiah Stewart, Onyeka Okongwu
Rookie of the Year: Kon Kneuppel. Also mentioned Flagg, Cedric Coward, Derik Queen.
Sophomore of the Year (made up): Consensus on Reed Sheppard #1, and grudging consensus on Sarr #2. Castle third.
The Danny Wolf success makes me really happy. Easily my favorite Wolverine of all-time and I don’t think it’s recency bias. I’ve been thinking how to explain it, but I’d argue Danny to me is who Zack and Stu are to some of you. Two instances of our program really struggling to find its way and them being the pieces that in a way brought the program life and allowed it to blossom to new heights. There’s probably never 2013 Michigan and Trey Burke without Zack and Stu and there’s probably not 2026 Michigan without Danny. Danny delivered me the first tourney experience as a student, a banner, and set up what is gonna be a great year after he left. My personal Michigan GOAT
It took me a few games before I could accurately tell which one was Stu and which one was Zach. ![]()
Now imagine that instead of 2022-23 and 2023-24, it was a decade of something comparable first. ![]()
Isaiah Livers (so I don’t forget him) played the first 4 games of our 7-game sample, getting close to 54 minutes across those contests. He took 3 two-point shots (making 1) to 7 threes (also making 1), but did collect 4 offensirve rebounds in his final two games, and 5 steals in his final 3 games - solid numbers. There is not a ton of detail on what injury has kept him out the past three games beyond the ominous word “hip” (a reminder - the it was a hip issue that cost Livers the past season-plus, jeopardized his career, and he had a somewhat potentially dubious surgery to correct). Hopefully this is better than it sort of seems.
Danny Wolf was inactive for the first three games of our sample, but has seen a bit of a breakout in the final two. After a somewhat quiet 0/2 (with five boards) in 12:45, Wolf got 30 minutes in a blowout loss to Milwaukee, scoring 22 points on 16 shots, grabbing 4 boards, and dishing 4 assists. This was partually fueled by 5/9 from three which, sorry @DMB43 , is not likely to occur every night, but definitely a big game. To show this wasn’t a flash in the pan, Danny got 19 minutes in a win over Charlotte as a member, for the first time, of a non-garbage-time rotation, scoring 10 points on 9 shots and grabbing 7 more boards (and putting Spartan Miles Bridges on a poster). There’s little to suggest that Wolf WON’T be in the rotation going forward, barring some change in performance, so that’s good news.
Moussa Diabate’s role is pretty much the same - the first big off the Hornets’ bench. He’s played all 7 games the team played in the past two weeks, averaging 7.3 points, 8.1 rebounds (3.6 offensive), with precious few stocks. I guess the glimmer we had seen previously in terms of shot-blocking in our last sample was simply small-sample-size theater, but the crux of his game - rebounding (particularly on the offensive glass) and knocking down his bunnies continues. He also is shooting 71% at the line - an improvement, and one that should prove material across a full season if it continues, given how frequently he’s fouled.
Caleb Houstan has gotten 2.5 minutes since our last update, and made a three. He pops on and off their active roster, as befits a two-way guy.
Jett Howard scored 30 points on 11/23 in 29 minutes, going 5/13 from three - this was basically a garbage time performance, as the Magic were down 30 at the half to Boston, but good shooting nonetheless. Unfortunately, this hasn’t led to more playing time, really - he played 18 minutes in a 33 point win the next night, sat through a 3 point win over Detroit, and then got 3 minutes in a 5 point win over Chicago. Regardless, he shot 52.5% from the floor in this stretch, and 41% from 3, he also grabbed 7 boards in that 30-point game, one short of his career high.
Before I get into Franz Wagner I want to note, per my hobby-horse, that the Magic, including the game Paolo was injured an only played 12 minutes, are 8-2 without Paolo, 5-6 with him. ANYWAY, Franz’s performance is actually pretty durable with and without Paolo there - in this stretch, he averaged 23.2 ppg, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, a bit more than 1 steal. He shot 54.4% from the floor (a bit hot), and 31% from 3 (unfortunately, pretty normal), and got to the line a bunch. There’s obviously some fluctuation, but that’s pretty close to his season average. (The big shift w/ and w/o Paolo is actually Desmond Bane’s numbers). He’s good!
Jordan Poole’s “evaluation” must have gone poorly, because he still hasn’t played.
Caris Levert is another alum whose production has just sort continued apace - 11 points per game, an injury absence. His assists were a bit down in this stretch, and his shooting cooled some - only hitting 43.5% from the floor but oddly that was all from poor two-point shooting…he still knocked down 52.6% of his threes (thus, 35% from 2).
It wasn’t really possible for Tim Hardaway Jr. to keep shooting 47% from 3, and the past two weeks were proof - he shot 33.3% in the past two weeks, despite a 7/11 heater (23 points) in an 18 point win over Phoenix. Shooting 68% from 2 is nice, though and scoring 91 points on 73 shots is still pretty good efficiency. The Nuggets have been alteranating wins with losses lately, but mark Tim as one of three Wolverines (along with Diabate and Wagner) who have played every game so far this year.
…a list Duncan Robinson WAS on before missing a game on Monday. Robinson’s play-making has somewhat continued from our last update, with 13 assists in 5 games. However, like his three-point-centric fellow alum (Hardaway), his red-hot shooting coole in this periods - hitting “only” 35.7% of this threes, dropping his season rate to 43.8%. He’s still basically not taking twos anymore, as he did in Miami (20.8% of his shots are twos vs. 30% in his final two seasons in Miami). Not to make all the Pistons fans mad at me, but a podcast I listen to was discussing how Robinson is both arguably the second most necessary player for the Pistons’ success (after Cade - basically because he’s the only reliable outside shooter) and possibly their biggest weakspot in that he is almost always the focus of the other team’s offensive attack. Basically - they expressed concern that he’ll get played off the floor in a second round (or later) matchup, defensively.
Moussa witnessed Danny posting Bridges from 3 feet away.
didn’t want his name on a gravestone
That’s a tough finish too. Love seeing him do things in the NBA!
Had 6 turnovers yesterday… so proud ![]()
9 rebounds tonight in 28 minutes is real good too
The wolf howl goes so hard! Love that they already have that hooked up for him ![]()
