Michigan Players in the NBA

I believe this is some sort of bookkeeping ruse or shell game. By not signing Wagner now, the team is allowed (per league rules) to make a larger, more enticing offer to another player (the team’s spending cap temporarily rises). Next month, Orlando will be able to make a comparable $8 million deal with Wagner.

I don’t think you can decline an option and then sign a guy with bird rules

But yes, I think Mo is worth more than $8

My guess is that they may have worked something out where he’ll take a discount for a long term deal, seeing as he’s playing with his brother

Huh, assumed this was over when they brought Goga back in. So…Carter on the move?

that’s awesome. So happy for Mo.

Excellent news. My Magic fandom will continue.

Yeah there have been rumors about Carter on the trade block. Wonder if that happens now. I, too, thought Goga signaled the end for Moe in Orlando.

Very thrilled for Moe. $11 mil/yr is a really nice payday after being at risk of falling out of the league a few years ago.

Absolutely. It’s “good backup” money, which is what he is!

You can see him in this video. Can see why Lee is a well liked coach.

I’m rooting big time for Jett next season! Didn’t realize he actually had a really good rookie year. Think it was smart to let him grow and mature in the g-league because the Magic desperately need his shooting

Seems like they may let him go for tax purposes

Really? The 11th pick after one season?

Because of Franz’s extension? Michigan men stealing from Michigan men.

Where did you hear that? Like trade him? Rookie contracts are guaranteed for 2 years

Yeah a trade. Hollinger was discussing it

His G League year was basically his Michigan year….good scoring, little passing, high turnovers, no rebounds, no D

He graded out as the best shooter in the entire g-league

47.2% from catch and shoot threes ranked him #1 for players with over 100 attempts

Osecola Magic won the East and had the highest offensive efficiency rating.

They took him at 11 because they need shooting. He is shooting! You’ve gotta alter expectations slightly now that he’s in the league since they are developing him for a certain role to complement all the other guys who are good at what Jett isn’t, but Jett is seemingly hopefully good where they aren’t

Also, I think you’ve got his TOs wrong. He rarely turns the ball over

I’d say optimistically he scored a lot better against a much harder league. Not that that’s all you want in a player ofc but I wonder if that doesn’t augur reasonably well.

Two a game, roughly even with assists

I’ll admit I didn’t enjoy the Jett experience (has nothing to do with him as a kid) - I know you did, but if I am trying to be as objective as possible, he’s taking Houstan’s role next year (the guy who steps in the rotations when a guy gets hurt)

This team has 5 guards I’d put ahead of any of the Michigan guys (Suggs, Anthony, KCP, Harris, Black)

Admittedly the way this team is set up, some of these guys will end up playing some 3 because after Franz it’s just Caleb and Tristan da Silva
