Michigan Non-Revenue Sports

I’m legit curious if we didn’t lose to Washington if we make the tournament. My gut says yes.

Or not get swept by Ohio St

Yea that part too

Wow….the SEC just gets the whole conference in the tournament huh?

Looks like Michigan Softball just got their first player in the portal. Pitcher out of Minnesota.

Stats look pretty decent. Minnesota’s batting numbers were at the bottom of the league but pitching was near the middle of the league.

Certainly can’t hurt!

if Warde isn’t making change here or in baseball, he’s definitely in the just don’t embarrass us category with those sports coaches

She averaged nearly a K per inning this past season. Striking out batters this year wasn’t a frequent thing (totaling 260 K’s in 374.1 innings) so adding someone who elevates that aspect is a plus.

In a mostly-unrelated note, Oklahoma was upset by Mississippi State in the Norman, OK Super Regionals on Sunday and will miss the College World Series for the first time since 2015. I’m happy, as they’re the Dodgers/Yankees of college softball. Now here might be a Michigan tie-in: They’ve had 3 players already report that they intend to enter the transfer portal (undergrads can officially enter on June 8th. Two of the departures are sisters and, while they both played HS ball in South Bend, Indiana, they were born in Michigan. Their mom played softball at Ferris State and their dad was on the track & field team at Western. Berkley Zache was a freshman pitcher who only pitched 15.1 innings but had 14 K’s and a 2.28 ERA. She was rated the #5 overall recruit (#1 pitcher) by PrepSoftball dot com. I don’t know that sites’ reputation but a #5 ranking by any service should mean that she was thought to be really good. Her sister Riley was a sophomore C/IF who only got 4 AB’s in two years at OU. That doesn’t necessarily mean she can’t play.

I’m hoping that Berkley is the Player to Be Named Later in the Storako trade!

There was a X post about college hockey budgets. MSU spending a lot more than Michigan around 5 million dollars more.

A lot of it is the Munn Arena renovation

Gotta spend money somewhere since football is still in shambles and basketball wants to do things the “right way” (God bless Izzo’s old man antics)

Just waiting on DuPont

Cameron Reid also

True. Already had him pencilled in but technically he is not a commit yet

Whew if y’all aren’t watching, wild first day of the NCAA baseball tourney!

  • Milwaukee whooped #4 overall seed Auburn 13-8
  • Little Rock upset #9 overall seed Southern Miss
  • Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Boston College, Wake Forest, and Tennessee were all upset in 2/3 regional matchups

…and UCLA, the overall #1 seed is down 3-2 in the top of the 9th to St Mary’s on ESPN2. Could be one of the largest upsets in a long, long time brewing…

Wow!! St Mary’s becomes the first team in NCAA tournament history to beat the overall #1 seed in the first game!

Guess they won’t have to do it in the Super regionals

Add #10 FSU to the list, who goes down to St. John’s.

Four seeded teams to the losers bracket on day 1 is pretty wild!
