McGary limited in practice with back condition

We’ll have more after press stuff today.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Michigan men’s basketball head coach John Beilein announced today (Friday, Sept. 27) sophomore Mitch McGary (Chesterton, Ind./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) has been limited in practice time due to a lower back condition.

“The U-M athletic medicine staff has been monitoring his progress and he is working diligently through this process,” said Beilein. “At this point, his full participation is day to day, with an expected return to be determined.”

That’s really unfortunate. Would hate for his year where he has to prove himself to the NBA to be spent mostly rehabbing.

Edit: On further thought, if McGary is still in bad shape going into the season, does this up the chance of Mark Donnal playing? Or will we see more Zak Irvin early and play smallball? Interesting question IMHO.
