I would venture the guess that anyone that has any sort of coaching ambitions would be interested in the Lakers job if the Lakers are seriously considering them. Don’t care how many sons they have on their current team.
it’s not a common take with our Beilein lineage but I actually kind of hate UVA basketball. That Diakite shot to sink Purdue really bothered me. I would strongly prefer Tony Bennett’s legacy be the 1-seed who got blown out by a 16-seed. Their redemption tour the following season was undeserved and the title run was too lucky for my tastes. They were even down big to the 16 again!

Agreed, the Lakers job is NBA royalty. There might be better “situations” for NBA teams and available jobs but there’s a reason jobs open up in the first place. Look at the Pacers made the East Finals in 2014. Made the playoffs 5 times since, never gotten out of the 1st round and they have pretty much cratered. They brought back Rick Carlisle who isn’t a bad coach but they aren’t going anywhere with him. I can imagine not many people wanted the Pacers gig so they went back to a past coach in Carlisle. You might not be a coach long in LA but there is a lot of prestige behind it.

Haha that’s a take. Bennett and UVA are tough to hate because they’ve been successful without the bag or burger boys going up against Duke, UNC and Louisville in their own conference. Plus Bennett generally seems like a pretty likeable guy. I do understand how one could dislike their style of play though

KT has said in the past that he prefers bad programs stay bad. it’s sort of a sadistic variation on that. I am the Ha Ha Yes sicko guy. can you imagine if UVA lost to a 16 not only once but in back to back years? Bennett would have to flee to the Himalayas

That was entertaining to see a 16 seed win, but it also would have been far more enjoyable if it happened to a blue blood. If Duke had lost to a 16 it would have to be declared a national holiday

We did get Lehigh over Duke in a 15/2.
I just really did not find that UVA team likable at all. and Bennett means nothing to me

Presumably you mean “program” and not “school”. As a school, it’s not inferior to many.

No, I mean school. It’s a good school, no doubt, but it doesn’t reach Berkeley, UCLA, and Michigan as one of the best public schools.

Fair enough. Certainly, the way that many carry themselves over-indexes relative to quality of school, even if the school is of a high quality.
