Game 18: Penn State at Michigan Open Thread

I mean Johns was very much recruited as a shooter: https://umhoops.com/2017/06/29/four-star-forward-brandon-johns-commits-michigan/

He shot 43% from three his last year in EYBL.
It just seems like a weird argument that you can’t ever project people to be shooters based on non-college evidence.

Well I’m not really arguing that. I love Johns form and want him to keep shooting. I said he was a wild card as to how he would shoot. I don’t think he’s someone you “could reasonably expect to shoot 35%.” For one, he was not even confident enough to shoot 3s last year. To me that should have been a big factor into any projection. Some one recruited as a shooter would have felt confident enough to try more than 1 non-garbage time attempt.

But this is mostly a pedantic argument anyway. If 2 of Johns misses go in he’s at 33%. He’s not a big culprit in our shooting woes. He’s a bigger culprit in offensive execution and defense.

They’re shooting better on twos, threes and free throws than last year lol. Practically the same as the national championship game year except a 0.4 lower 3P% to go along with higher FT% and 2P%

They’re the worst shooting team we’ve had this decade, I’ll give you that :man_shrugging:
