I feel like it is pretty clear what I’m saying? Match manipulation is easier to detect with the increase in regulation of markets and increase in $ spent on detection.
You really are hard pressed these days to be able to watch 5 minutes of ESPN without some mention or branding connected to sports gambling. And it’s perpetual if you’re watching anything on a network with a gambling name but even FanDuel will add on with mentioning prop bets and throwing up graphics on the screen throughout the game. Advertising works.
And with instant access on your phone, snap decisions are easy to make.
Young minds are growing up with this as the new normal and I think the occasional reminder from a coach or whomever or some sign in the locker-room that they shouldn’t do it could be getting drown out.
I know Chauncey isn’t young and should know better (if he’s guilty) but people with addictive tendencies (which he may have) are susceptible at any age.
don’t they have in-game reads where the commentators have to discuss the prop bet they like
On FanDuel Detroit, they don’t weigh in with their own opinions but they will bring up odds for prop bets throughout the game.
I do think that over the last year or two TNT has cutaway to Barkley who may do something like that.
I don’t think anybody disagrees that it’s pretty easy to catch somebody throwing down $10K on long shot prop bets.
But I do disagree that we’re simply catching more of the same number of criminals. That doesn’t seem at all likely given the data.
An interesting note that I didn’t know about came up when Sam Webb was talking with John U. Bacon and Bacon stated that the reason Phil Mickelson decided to join the LIV tour was because of his gambling debts.
one might say Phil is as well known for gambling as golf
Good win over the Rockets. Cade struggled until he took over in the 4th quarter. Duren got ejected because he lost his cool on Amen.
I didn’t think that the elbow was intentional. F1, seemed accurate but I’m sure it earned an F2 because of their dust up from a few minutes before. Last night was a big ref show. Duren got ejected, Stew and Holland fouled out and Amen had 4 first half fouls for the Rockets.
Luckily, B-Ball Paul stepped it up for the short-handed (aside from the fouls and ejections, LeVert and Sasser were in street clothes) Pistons.
By the way- Duncan also had a great game. 17 points, 4-8 from 3, 2 offensive rebounds, and THREE blocked shots.
If a F1 he would not have been ejected even with a prior technical right?
I don’t think so but I’m not 100%. 2 techs, yes. An F2, which he was given, yes. But I don’t think a combo would be the same.
Looked like an intentional elbow to me, needed to look more like a swim move if he wants to sell incidental.
