Good to see Cade, Ausar, Tobias, Ivey, Duren, D-Rob, Stew, Sasser, and B-Ball Paul all supporting the squad on the baseline.

Would be surprised if Holland was better than league average in his age 20 season but even getting to average at that age would put him on a pretty exciting path.

Was Ivey there? I thought he was but maybe not.

League average from 3 or overall?

Be a league average NBA player

I think a good summer league heuristic (stealing this from Hollinger) is “no good data points can be drawn from summer league, only bad ones”

Ie - players doing badly is a bad sign, doing well merely means they didn’t do badly

I think generally you hope for second year nba first rounders who played as rookies to be stars in this context (so, good that Holland is doing what he’s “supposed to” so far)

I’m def not concluding anything from a single summer league game.

But Holland is young enough that we shouldn’t just yawn if he crushes summer league. Esp. if it’s all on stuff that isn’t just shooting luck.

I’m ready to over react and double down on my VJ take

Love that kids game and that was a home run for the Sixers. If he brings that energy every night , he’s gonna lead to some W’s

The Sixers are going to be good.

Mark it.

I think someone needs to remind Harrison Ingram he’s sharing the floor with a PG who was just picked #2 because he is reeeaaallllyyyyy monopolizing the ball here

Harper just so strong going downhill. Feels like a pretty good sign.

Flagg’s skill set is broad enough and he’s a hard enough competitor that he’s going to be a good player but Inreally don’t know that he’s going to be running ball screens this year, at least, not well

He’s getting eaten up here by Bryant (obviously Bryant is probably very locked in given the comp)

But when he starts dribbling, the Spurs are really gettting into him. Bryant’s defense is as-advertised at least

I could definitely see them being good. There’s a lot riding on Embiid staying healthy and Paul George pulling himself back from the career cliff, which makes me hesitant to fully buy in. If PG is actually cooked, I just don’t think we can trust that Embiid can play at a high level for 60+ games anymore. His body just won’t hold up.

I really like the young guards though!

Yeah feel good about Maxey and VJ and McCain as a third

Like it’s not hard to see how they’re good - Embiid plays 50 games and doesn’t suck, George sort of is the guy he was two years ago and not last year (not often how these things go but who knows)

But there’s definitely wishcasting there

That’s why said “I have no idea” - would I be SHOCKED if they are the third best team? Not at all, there is a ceiling here higher than maybe any other

It’s the old Michael Ray Richardson quote:

“The ship be sinking!”
“How far can it go?”
“Sky’s the limit!”

Edwards was decent too. I like Bona and him. Not sure about Bona for now per say but I think he could be a decent bench big at some point down the line.

Grimes is ok. They got Broome and Oubre too. They need VJ to buy into the defender , finisher, energy role early. Lots of guys whose primary skill is scoring.

On a side note I’m confused about the Hornets adding Sexton and Dinwiddie late. I really liked their picks the last few years and Sexton is still young enough to fit I guess but then you re-up Mann and sign those two?

Just seems odd. They need a center and just traded both of them and now are relying on a rookie and Moussa. Weird moves and seemed like a pivot from what the plan seemed to be. Maybe they just know Ball is going to be hurt and brought in some other ball handlers for when he’s down?

I think they’re ready to move past Ball and vice versa honestly

It’s a new front office this year

Holland having another solid game, Lanier has looked good. Pistons up big. Reed Sheppard has looked good in both games. Didn’t get off the bench in the playoffs I think he’s ready for a larger role.
