Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 2)

move Ivey and Levert’s minutes between the roles as you see fit, they’re very similar types of player

When Cade, Ivey, and Levert are all healthy, the Pistons should have two competent creators with the ball on the floor at all times.

Mike Brown to be the NYK coach. I mean meh and it doesn’t solve the offensive issue for the Knicks. At least Brown would use the bench more than Thibs but that’s not by much either.

I won’t pretend to know a lot of details about Mike Brown. I think he’s been liked and disliked throughout his career at various times…just like Thibs. Just feels like one retread replacing another with mostly the same roster. I’m not sure there was more to squeeze out of that roster that Thibs didn’t get…though I understand that one of the things he tends to squeeze out of his rosters is joy and health so maybe Mike Brown will improve that at least.

Brown’s a fine coach. I just dont see this moving the needle much, and I assumed that was the point of firing Thibs.

For Ausar, forget 3 pointers - he can miss a 3-foot shot by 3 feet. he has an awful long way to go. it would be great to just be a consistent and aggressive finisher. but the rest of his game is incredibly enticing.

It’s Giddey time

All I know is I was riding Beasley in fantasy this year. For this I’m happy that he stacked on prop bets and kept chucking

Weaver and Dumars are getting roasted in this article. It’s paywalled but I was able to read the whole article for some reason. :person_shrugging:

One Eastern executive with knowledge of how the conversation went from Atlanta’s perspective described a perplexing scene. When Senior Vice President Troy Weaver made the call to Atlanta’s Bryson Graham, Graham couldn’t believe what was actually being offered. Graham asked for clarification multiple times to confirm the unprotected pick was indeed part of the deal. It got to the point where Hawks General Manager, Onsi Saleh, called Joe Dumars directly to confirm for himself. The Hawks waited nervously for Dumars to confirm, hoping he would not realize what was going on and walk the trade back. But the Pelicans persisted and the Hawks got their steal.

Vecenie wasn’t wrong. NBA needs to put the Pels back in their custody.

Hollinger explains the Duncan motivation more clearly

He could have opted into $20 mil, but the Heat could (would?) have waived him, which would reduce it to $10 mil

So signing for a guaranteed $18 mil (what he did) makes sense if that was the operating assumption

It’s amazing that the worst FO combo imaginable didn’t even have to interview

Yes to Boucher for the Pistons

People need to be patient with these young players. I can remember three or four years ago Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum were turnover machines and getting roasted. The core of our team is under 25 years old (nine players) which is almost the entire team.

Cade and Ivey have lots of growth to make. And the same with Ausar and Holland. The Thompson twins are interesting Amen is better offensively but Ausar is better defensively. Lots of growth to be made for all these players.

I do not see the Pistons jettisoning anyone just yet. The biggest need they have is a difference maker playing the 4.

This playoff experience will be a benefit for this team in the future. The Pistons are being overlooked.

if u asked me how old is Chris Boucher I would have guessed 47 years old. I thought he was already on the Pistons back in 02 or something

Ausar is an awesome defensive player, but not sure this is true. Amen just made NBA All-Defensive First Team. Amen is an elite defender. Ausar likely has some All-Defensive teams in his future too though.

Yeah Amen might just be better at everything
