You can trade exceptions in the new CBA can’t you?

I like whoever the new Wizards brass is. They finally appear to have someone competent running the show.

Tre Johnson
Carrington
George
Cam
Riley
Sarr
Aj Johnson

Is a decent two year run and reset. Plus they have Bilal (for some reason i thought he was in his third year but add him above) . They seem to have some semblance of sanity and direction with pieces that have talent / upside. Who knows if they reach it but if they can get some young shooters they may be good down the line.

Sounds like the Pistons will just take back money from the S&T with Schroeder, and tomorrow(or today since it’s after midnight) will be the last day to get it buttoned up. The rumored Pistons/Kings/Warriors trade seemed to be dead, which would bring Monk to GSW, Kuminga to the Kings and who knows what the Pistons are involved except for trading away Schroeder and getting trade exception.

From my understanding, the Pistons would get 14.1 mil of trade exception that is equal to Schroder’s salary, but it would be up to 14.35 mil (Schroeder’s salary plus 250,000 or a combination of salaries that equal that amount without need to send out any salary. They would gain access to a 5.1 biannual exception, but would lose access to 8.8 mil of midlevel exception. So basically the Pistons will be operating as above the cap team.

I think their broad philosophy has gotten way way better but I think it’s a bit concerning they don’t already have an obvious dude to count on.

If after this year that’s still true I think there’s maybe some worry about the scouting/analytic staff.

If they could swing that for PJ Washington, I’d be quite pleased.

100 percent agree but they’re doing solid for where they keep picking. It’s definitely a bunch of guys that seem like they have solid role player potential and some good two way side kicks , but they definitely need a superstar who preferably can stroke it.

They’re going to be really bad the next two years so if they get lucky they could land one coming up.

Who knows though, maybe Tre and Bub become a dangerous scoring duo and Bilal , Sarr, and George fit well down the line around them. They’re all so young that there could be some monster jumps we don’t see yet.

I’m still a big Cam guy too. I’m disgusted my Suns took two more seconds over him. He was worth the risk , particularly if Beal is gone.

Really don’t understand what the Suns were doing there. They’re in desperate need of young talent, real rotation players, and cheap contracts.

Ishbia is why. He wants to compete for the playoff spot.

I said what I said accounting for Ishbia’s demands for the team. Whitmore fills needs, he’s not just some lottery ticket.

Wyd Ishbia? Just bite the bullet and wait for 2 years instead of stretching it out to 5 years

Obviously the Wizards need a star to really move forward with their rebuild, but where exactly have they gone wrong in trying to acquire one that would be concerning?

Only talking about the tracks their 22 and under year olds are on. They’ve got enough of them that one of them putting up a league average season in a lot of minutes was not impossible.

If they don’t get anybody to that level after this season I think that goes from “eh it’s too early” to “somewhat concerning”.

John Collins is a Clipper

Yeah, the Wizards’ “flaw” is that the one high pick they’ve had was in the bad draft, and I know we don’t all see eye to eye on Sarr, who has some EXTREME strengths and some EXTREME weaknesses, but I guess giving up Advjia and Brogdon’s salary for Carrington and another first rounder to come is a good piece of business, Kyshawn George likely won’t work, but it cost them Dillon Jones and a second rounder, so if you saw something there, the acquisition cost isn’t really anything. That whole Jarace Walker and Bradley Beal for Coulibaly (who is better?) and.a boatload of picks was a great piece of business

They don’t have the guy yet, but it’s hard for me to look at the drafts and see who after the guys they took they were supposed to take instead
nobody after Coulibaly is really popping out at me (maybe Cason Wallace? But he’s not a franchise player), nobody after Sarr is obviously popping for me (I guess today you’d probably rather have Ware? I’m not going to concede on Zach Edey at this point). They’ve made cogent decisions.

I know his name got thrown around early for a potential trade for the Pistons. The price didn’t seem too high and he would have fit a need. I think the Jay Huff trade to the Pacers, in hindsight, is a guy the Pistons should have pursued. While not elite in any aspect he’s a relatively athletic stretch five that would have given them a little more size. For a second round pick and a pick swap that seems like it would have been worth it.
