Derryck Thornton - MVP of Top 100 Camp Championship Game(Footage as Well)

And that is why…the coaches were very right…in offering Winston & Goodin as well.
Truth is - we should be very happy if we get any of these guys, as it could very easily end up being;
Thornton: UK
Winston: MSU
Goodin: Louisville

UK has lost more than its share of recruiting battles in 2014 and 2015.

Let’s hope they lose one in 2016 as well

I don’t put as much stock in the return trip to UK as some do. When Cal says “Why don’t you come back for Big Blue Madness?”, are the Thorntons really going to say, “Nah”? Don’t think it represents any change in the recruiting picture.

I was thinking the same thing, sane. Lots can happen in 4 months.

New BogieBlog on Scout about Thornton post UK visit, and another 2016 offeree.

Edit: apologies of posts like this are taboo. I’m presuming the paywall takes care of it by and large. Let me know if otherwise though.

UK “right there” at the top for Thornton

Following visit/offer, Kentucky 'right there' at the top for Derryck Thornton [VIP] http://t.co/IPY3pkAQRd via @TheCatsPause247 #BBN

Hope these are obligatory recruit statements? By the way, when is the last time a prospect on a visit responded with " it was a horrible visit, I didn’t like the facilities the players or the atmosphere. There is no way I would consider going there. It was a wasted trip." Almost every visit is punctuated by the predictable form letter addendum. Whether it’s the GREAT Kentucky or a lesser suitor. My hope is that Derryck has a real desire to be a Wolverine and that he has developed a real relationship with JB and staff.

While I don’t think many recruits will explicitly state they didn’t enjoy a given school/campus, most recruits are trained to give the generic - “I had a good time, but I have no leaders” type of statement. When a guy expressly states “UK is right there at the top”, I think that does mean something, as most recruits are reluctant to name a flat out leader or co-leader.

As you and others have correctly stated, Kentucky is the offer that all kids want. As Guestavo has correctly identified, they’ve LOST more than their share of battles ( Battle? ) on the recruiting fronts lately. My hope is still that Derryck has built a great relationship with us and sees his opportunity in a system designed to showcase his skills like no other.

My thoughts exactly - he would be a perfect fit at UM. Hopefully DT can see that UM is a place where PGs are given the keys to the car at an early age if deserved, and DT is certainly worthy of his own set of keys.
