College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

They also had tremendous regular season success so it wasn’t a fluke run in the tournament either

But what about the Robbie Beran hype?!?

I’m glad they found a way to get paid doing college basketball stuff but it saddens me to find out Three Man Weave’s top 40 countdown has been reduced to a Twitter thread.

there used to be an incredible CFB summer countdown by one guy, he got scooped up by ESPN+ or something and we never heard from him again. I don’t mean Connelly, some other guy

You’re thinking of Bill Connelly. He still puts out content it’s just behind the ESPN+ paywall.

no it was Paul Myerberg. He went to USA Today. he used to run a team by team preview.

Honestly don’t think I’ve ever heard that name before.

didn’t he have a Twitter handle like RunTheDive or something? back in the halcyon days of Matt Hinton-era CFB twitter?

Yep something like that

I thought they said on their podcast the full team previews will still come out, just on whatever the new platform is.

Not sure what this list is going for. Based on accomplishments the Florida group should be #1. Embiid and Wiggins did nothing in college so presumably pro play also factors in or else they’re nowhere near 4, likely benefitting the fab 5.

Zion’s class also did nothing in college other than earn Kenny Buckets a place in Sparty lore

At least they were a #1 and lost an all time great game in the E8. The only Embiid/Wiggins season they lost in R2 to Stanford

If it is based purely on recruiting rankings, does it start to make more sense? As with most lists, this is easy to pick apart. At least he said “opinion” for once. The fab Five had two finals and an elite 8 plus the cultural impact they had on the game.

Misspelling Webber is probably the first red flag.

If it’s just based on recruiting rankings, shouldn’t ‘90 UNC with four McDs AAs—Montross, Phelps, Reese and Rozier (the latter of whom transferred to Louisville after one season, and went on to a great career)— and also beat the Fab Five in the ‘93 finals be somewhere on the list?

Mich had four McDs AAs also just add Jimmy King. Yes beat the Fab Five in the final lost to the Fab Five in the preseason tourney. Maui?
