College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

I feel like Cassius>Brunson, whether I’d agree with it or not, isn’t really that crazy. Brunson was much better on D though. I do think Frank was better than Kofi.

Kaminsky should be #1

What do you guys got against kofi lol? Guy was unguardable the last two years.

I have no problem with these two being in the Top 5. :grinning:

I have nothing against Kofi, he was awesome. Just not close to as good as Kaminsky

If you think Kofi was unguardable you should check out Kaminsky’s stats

If you want to take Winston over Brunson I feel you ought to have a pretty good answer for Brunson having 4 final four victories and Winston none.

That’s only a fraction of the equation to me.

That’s the first thing I did when I saw the list.

Preferably adjusting for pace of play

For one, Kaminsky actually knew what a pass was

Kaminsky had way better ORtg on similar usage, could actually shoot more than five feet away from the basket, actually knew what was a pass was, made two F4 and a NC game, and was NPOY and KenPom POY.

He had a great single year yes.

14/6 on .582/.378/.765 shooting splits is very good bordering on elite with just a slight uptick in usage.

I’m not talking about just one year.

First team all conference as junior, but he was an one year wonder for sure.

Brunson’s teams went 103-13 in three seasons, 13-1 in the tournament with two national championships, 2 Big East titles, 2 Big East tournament titles, and he won NPOY. Nobody else comes close as far as individual + team success.

Zion had the best single season, Id argue kaminsky and McDermott were better individual players in college at certain points but Brunson legit hung 6 banners in 3 seasons and won the Wooden/Naismiths.

I genuinely can’t believe how many people think Cassius should be top 10 on the list. It’s like the 22-9 team that was 11th in the country his senior year would have waltzed to a national title and blown out Baylor’s exact team that won it next year and that gets to count for Cassius’ legacy points.

It’s not that Cassius should be top 10, it’s that he should be above Valentine

Who were the Kenpom POYs the last ten years?

Any list like this is going to add bonus points for players who had post season success. That’s why Winston and Kofi, multi-year great college players, are lower than Brunson and Kaminsky. In my opinion, that’s how it should be. There are times I think post season success by a team is over rated, but both of these guys were great players on those teams.

With both of the guys in question you can’t kiss off one deep tourney run as luck since they did it twice.

I agree that there is to an extent some overvaluing of Winston, in part because he murdered us in '19 and we had to watch it.
