Colin Castleton enters transfer portal

Also, Wagner picked up his fourth foul in the Iowa game around the 10 minute mark.

How could I forget? Who doesn’t have four fouls with 10 minutes left in Iowa City?

I think it is safe to say, based upon what we saw, Howard wants to attempt to score in the low post, much more than Beilein. That alone might make a guy like Castleton want to move along. I always assumed he wanted to one day try to have a Moe Wagner type of role somewhere.

Seems like guys who don’t play well don’t get minutes regardless of what a coach ā€œwantsā€ and then when they don’t get minutes they want to go somewhere where they will get minutes.

Based on some of the shots that Dave would take, I would guess he desires to be more of a gunner than a facilitator, but perhaps that is just me. I know the Bearcats are generally a solid team, but they don’t tend to have elite talent. He will get all the minutes and shots his heart desires in that league.

Just one guy’s opinion on the disconnect.

That’s exactly the role his camp believed he could play. Believing you can do it, while very important, and actually doing it, though, are two very different things. Best of luck to him at UF.

I don’t know if he wants to rely on it, but he clearly wants it to be an option, and the defense to see it as a threat. If you go by who he played it seems that he’d rather scheme around the things he loses by playing a less-mobile/perimeter-oriented by than scheme around a 5 who can’t post but gives you other things.

He’s a Florida kid, and UF has in recent times become a top ten public U, so that’s a pretty nice landing spot. He seemed so out-of-control in his movements in the early going last year. . . I’d like to believe that like other big men he might yet surprise and emerge as a strong player.

Austin Davis is a high quality young man and I like him. Having said that, he doesn’t have the tools or versatility of CC. Castleton would look really nice spelling Dickinson this year. Watching what a little added muscle can do to his game is a sight to behold.

Before any of you think about attacking me, I’ve just activated my anti-you’re-an-AD-hater-accusation force field.

This is NOT an attack.

I was a huge CC fan. Hel!, I was the guy who called his school in Florida and talked to his AD for about 45 or 50 minutes! But, Colin Castleton didn’t want to stay. He wanted to go back home to Florida. He is doing well. God Bless him for that. I’m happy for him.

Austin Davis WANTS to be at Michigan! It is his dream to play basketball at Michigan. Austin Davis is a Michigan man, and a pretty good backup option for Hunter when Hunter needs a break. He’s been a mentor to Hunter and a quiet leader on our team. That matters to me. I’m glad we have Austin Davis.

Again, this wasn’t an attack, but, yes, in truth, I am a member of the club you referenced in paragraph two.

Well spoken, sir!

Also, keep in mind that CC is starting and playing a lot. Behind Hunter he’s getting 12-15 minutes tops. So worked out well for him and happy to see he’s doing well.

For sure. I watch a lot of Florida games and it’s great to see him doing so well.

I like Davis a lot too. He just has more limitations to his game. Just so no one misunderstands me, I’d rather have Austin than not. I’m glad he’s a part of the team…

Sounds like he’ll probably return, but glad to see him improve enough that this is even an option.

Probably needs to develop the outside shot that was allegedly part of his game in high school to make that leap. I assume that’s the feedback he’ll get.

For a minute I thought Castleton is transferring again.
