I’m such a Sister Jean fan this week.
Very different situations, as far as clock management go. I do think that it was pointed out that Dosunmu took a bad shot (but burning the clock actually made sense in that situation).
Amazing how Izzo pulls this off
Pulls what off? He’s embarrassing himself. Even worse than this comment was his whining about being in the play-in game despite the fact that pretty much every objective measure shows that MSU is terrible this year. Maybe don’t get repeatedly blasted off the court by mediocre teams?
Pulls off more and more embarrassing comments that his fans eat up.
He and his team will have a solid week of rest before gacking against UCLA in the (snicker) play-in game.
Someone tell Lil’ Izzy that maybe he shouldn’t have pissed away the start of the Big Ten season. Digging that 0-3 hole is what got them in the play-in game despite their three impressive victories late in the year. Also, winning a game of value away from Breslin would’ve been good, too.
Izzo is such a small man, both literally and figuratively
I’ll admit I am not familiar with him but if he worked under Brad Stevens and Matt Painter, I have to assume he’s a sharp guy and a good hire.
Yeah, can’t see someone have two separate tenures under two fantastic coaches and them not knowing what they’re doing with Xs and Os.
Seems like a solid hire to me.
Yeah his background checks out well with what a lot of college teams are looking for now. also young, born in Indiana. He or Dennis Gates would have been great hires. Not an easy job though, so good luck to him
I was hoping for a second Bruce Parkhill experience.
Don’t know about him but agree that he was worked under 2 great basketball minds. Added bonus is if it affects Purdue and knocks them down a touch that isn’t all bad as they will be one of the favorites next year.
Some people just have no class
I’d like a reporter to ask “Don’t you think it is best for the kids to make sure they are not playing too many games in too small a time period? I know you’ve had concerns in the past about that leading to stress fractures…”
Don’t have to mention Caris Levert specifically, but public figures are more restrained in public when they know there are beat reporters with institutional memory that will carefully evaluate the things they say and might write stories about that.
This is harder to do now, of course. Reporters can easily lose access to the program if they do such things. That makes it easier for Izzo to do his thing unchecked.
To Dylans point, seems like more and more Big Ten teams are going at each other this year
Does Jordan know something we’d like to know?
What is this in reference to? Is it an open secret that Illinois is dirty? I know Underwood’s last two programs were hit with sanctions after he left so it wouldn’t surprise me.
It sure does. Very testy these days.
Underwood sure does seem to be a pretty big contributor to it, but I do wonder about whether our guy is one too. Not that I care or think he should change what he’s doing in any way - I’m delighted with our coach. And being salty is definitely a thing that lots of coaches do whilst also maintaining a positive public persona and having genuine respect from peers.
But it would be interesting to read something following up on Turgeon’s “don’t talk to me” thing. I forget which story I read it in, but it was the notion that Juwan does a fair bit of talking to the other coach during the game, that might be uncommon?
