2023 NBA Playoffs Thread

The guy who had the last laugh on the matter was Ben Simmons who subtly trolled his previous team.

And it would be wise for Embiid to take a page out of Gianni’s book. Never blame your teammates in public or indirectly. If you have something to say about them, speak to the owner, while being humble in front of the TV cameras.

I don’t think I’d agree that the guy who has essentially played his way out of the league since that moment is getting the last laugh

If the guy (emphasizing) thinks that his previous organization is responsible for him being out of the league, then he feels justified to troll and have the last laugh, which makes him feel good. Pretty much how I feel every time Michigan State loses a game.

:hushed:

8/12/5/2 on 80% is literally like an All-NBA third team slash for a whole game and he’s done it in 9 minutes without jumping

Jokic leads cutters on his passes so well. He’s had like three passes that I thought would be turnovers that were right on the money.

nugs were setting nba offensive rating records until they took the foot off the gas post all star game

my comp for Jokic is Sir Don Bradman

This is the Lakers wall. Happens to all the greats. LeBron is one of the best ever, but this is the wind down.

Super fun game, not sure I have a take on where the series is gonna go. Prob like the Nuggets bc home court and I didn’t see the Lakers generate nearly as many high value open looks. FTs + Murray being absolutely garbage on D kept them in it. Maybe that’s all going to keep going but that seems less sustainable to me if asked to guess.

Curious what the point of having Lebron guard neither Jokic nor Gordon was. He’s not gonna run around screens and chase cutters and he’s prob got, what, 20 lbs and an inch or two in reach on Hachimura? Can trade off w AD being the floater and get back somebody that can chase shooters instead of Rui right?

Maybe I totally missed it tho. And Rui obvi scored in mismatches tonight but I dk I just don’t respect his game.

Oh also I think not getting the game where they got the most rest they were going to get is actually a pretty big deal.

Agreed on all points.

Not super confident in prognosticating the rest of the series but I’ll default to who I think is the better team that has home court.

And yes the rest factor is being ignored. Lakers play AD and Lebron a ton. Have to think they’ll get tired eventually.

Which is also likely why Lebron isn’t guarding Jokic. He basically just doesn’t ever guard the best player. Don’t want him having to waste energy, they’d rather him fall asleep on a shooter occasionally than have to take blows from Jokic

Re: Lebron, kinda figured that was it. But at some point you have to go to your best lineup right? And I don’t think having Lebron or AD as the floater is a huge trade off so you can split the Jokic blows.

They prob figure it’s game 1 and they only need 1 of the first 3 but seems like it’s kind of the opposite to me. Would rather blitz the Nuggets than try to rope a dope.
