I agree with a lot of the thoughts here that he may have been a bad frosh overall and had a negative impact but who knows at the same time. Juwan and his staff have shown good results so far in getting a lot out of guys and getting them to play the right way.
Maybe with Juwan’s history as a player and coach in the NBA Todd would have respected his b-ball iq and ability to get him to the NBA if he fell in line and listened to what the man had to say. With that possibility he could have turned into an absolute monster like we are seeing with Hunter and really refined his game.
He threw a one handed pass to the corner for a 3 (I think Livers?) in semi-transition in the last game that made me think my expectation he’ll be drafted 18th-23rd might be a bit conservative and it’s more like 12th-15th.
Greg Brown slipping is interesting to me in terms of our future recruiting at the 4. We look so good with a dominant 5 and multiple interchangeable wings, but are we better off trying to be Purdue+ (at their best with an Edwards or Hummels stretch type at the 4 and 2 giant centres competing but not playing together) or a slower UNC (2 bigs and one has perimeter skill but it’s scary if they’re a one and done because who knows if Diabate is going to hit 10 3s or 30 3s next year).
The Ringer had an interesting article today about Mo Bamba’s struggles to make his mark in the NBA and how difficult it is for young big-men to find success in today’s NBA. While this doesn’t apply directly to Michigan players (Dickinson), signees (Diabate), or recruits (Holmgren)…it was an interesting read and illustrates some of the challenges bigs face when making the leap to the NBA as compared to other positions. It also gives me reason to hope that our guys will stick around for an extra year or two in order to develop some of those skills while playing 30mpg for Juwan Howard rather than riding the bench in the NBA. (Then again, the millions of dollars in Bamba’s bank account tell a different story regardless of if he plays.)
He tested the waters at his local supermarket - it was a fun exercise comparing Ice Mountain, Evian, Aquafina, Dasani, Fiji and Smart water. I don’t remember hearing the results from his water test though.
Also, Pistons are in line for #1 overall pick which is a good thing. They badly need elite talent and Cade Cunningham would be great for the Pistons. They can move Hayes to SG and let Cade be the man at PG.
Cade would be great for the Pistons at 6’7” PG. But I like Josh Jackson at SG for his shooting and defense (6’8”). Throw in Jerami Grant, Isaiah Stewart, and either Sekou or Saddiq, and you have length, athleticism, switchability and high motors all across your defense.
Yup. Killian should not preclude Weaver from passing up on Cade Cunningham. Cade is a better prospect than Killian and is a much more dynamic player. Pistons really need elite talents and they lacked one.
