2019 - Wing - Franz Wagner (Commit)

with all the length at 2-4, JB could bring back 1-3-1

I guess I mean this. Who are you taking if we’re picking teams in a backyard scenario? Who do you feel if they were your projected 3 on a roster as freshman that helps lead to more wins?

Also in terms of fit on current roster. Would you judge Franz’s current value to next years team as a greater more valuable impact or Iggys frosh year on last years squad?

At this point I’m just hoping we can land a Freshman/Grad transfer who can contribute next year. There is absolutely no guarantee they’re ready in year one. The offense is complex and you have to be locked in on defense to get playing time. I’d say there’s less than a 25% chance they start in the first 10 games. Maybe they can stand in the corner, spread the floor and get back on D. Oh, and don’t forget about turnovers! You have to be special to join the rotation…every possession counts!

GO BLUE!

I am assuming Franz has been on campus before but has he done the full tour needed to get an offer?

Did Moe have to come to A2 to receive his offer? Seems like being halfway around the world would get one out of that requirement.

I am sure Franz has visited his brother on campus in the past.

I don’t see how it matters. He is planning to visit. Beilein can promise Franz an offer will be waiting for him. If Franz tells him beforehand that he wants to commit, Beilein can hold a spot for him.

I’ll take any of our four targets. Even getting one will feel like a victory at this point in 2019 recruiting.

Quinones is said to be playing in a similar offense. That could make a difference.

The rankings are more curiosity to me. See if my personal evaluation lines up with “recruiting experts.” Personally, from what I’ve seen on the films, Wagner would be my top choice if only 1 scholarship is open. But I’ve thought that way since about January.

When “recruiting experts” put a ranking next to a player that matches my opinion, it serves, at least to me, as a nice backup that others are seeing high value in the player as well. Especially with non-US high school kids where the available film can be limited or the caliber of opponent is difficult to judge.

PAX what is your source on the 6’ 8" 205lbs? I saw in the Euro Cup Rosters that Franz was listed as 2.03 Meters which equals 6’ 7.92", but nothing on a more recent weight. Please advise.

German source says 93 kg

Interesting that the Franz visit has come and gone without any buzz so far.

JB just got to germany yesterday, so barely been 24 hours

How much buzz could there be? Beilein isnt going to say anything about it and everyone else is German with the last name of Wagner. I doubt they say anything unless it is a complete affirmation that he is coming which isnt likely for another month and a half.

The only reason that we knew he was going over in the first place was because another recruit mentioned that JB wouldnt be in to see him because he would be in Germany

Think he is back in the States already visiting Cam Johnson’s brother today.
