Do we take another point guard in 17 once Walton graduates? Almost have to unless we get a combo who could step in.
I think that Winston would probably bump Nairn out of the way immediately. One would think so. I personally don’t think Nairn is anything special. He’s very fast and plays pretty good defense, but he is useless in their half court offense. But MSU people, Izzo included, seem to absolutely love him.
Because MSU places much more value on defense, an area Winston struggles with.

I agree with you. Winston’s skill set and overall game (highly skilled offensive player, defensive liability) just seem more suited to Michigan than MSU.

Of course it would be ideal to land a top 2016 PG. And, juxtaposed against that is the reality that any top 2016 PG will probably want to start right away. The good news, at least with Winston, is that if UM and MSU are his two finalists, his path to a starting role is easier at Michigan, as Walton will be a senior in 2016, and Nairn only a junior.
Pretty much falls in line with the games I viewed this weekend. Think the staff may expand their PG search to include Simpson if Winston/Goodin don’t work out.
Xavier Simpson had an excellent weekend at EYBL Session 3 in Houston, averaging 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

Is Murray off of our radar now, regardless of what class he chooses to be in?

I saw a Michigan fan on twitter say that the 247 board said that Michigan was targeting Murray as a PG and that he was a “realistic option”.

It was actually Steve Lorenz, a 247 writer, who said that. He’s usually pretty reliable for football recruiting news, but I’m not sure that he’s very plugged into the basketball scene.
I think Murray would still be an option, but he’s playing things very close to the vest and Kentucky/Oregon are major players. He also has the option of playing another year of prep ball in Canada and then going straight to the NBA.
Murray’s recruitment seems to be at least as mysterious as Brown’s. A lot of folks think he’ll say in Canada and then be eligible for the draft in 16. So that would mean 2015 or bust? Kentucky fans really want him but think he would play the three next to Ulis and Briscoe, which strikes me as deluded. I have no idea what he’ll do, but it’s nice to dream about him coming to Michigan. Dude can flat out score.
Kamar Baldwin would be a Plan B guy I hope we check out.
Kid can score - his pull up jumper is a dagger. 6’2" with long arms and a 40" vertical.
I think he could use some work on his passing skills but I love how he can score. My kind of PG/Combo Guard.
Clemson and Ole Miss offer. Missouri, Stanford, Georgia, Butler, Alabama shown interest.
I think he’s been playing for Atlanta Celtics AAU with Langford so maybe the coaches have gotten a glimpse of him already.
Really reminds me of Darius Johnson Odom formerly of Marquette. Not really a PG, but more of a pure 2 in my view. Does look like a nice prospect though
Of the 3 smaller PG’s M is looking at, Ramsey, Walker, Aiken, I like Aiken. Love his shot. It’s pretty. He kinda reminds me of Derrick Walton. I like Walton’s overall game more, but I’d take Aiken’s jumper.
Perhaps this expedites the recruiting process for Winston
Unfortunate news for top 2016 #Michigan/#MichiganState bball target, 5-star PG Cassius Winston out 6-8 weeks http://t.co/oMm6WksELd

Perhaps Jordan Morgan can do for UM what Abdur-Rahim did for Cal!
A couple of very encouraging posts on scout re Cassius and UM…
