Well, he can look at his fellow Canadian Iggy, who I think he was able to slash to the basket and score at the college level and he is now travelling around NBA cities and the G league.
Dylan has posted before about how Iggy probably had little incentive to stay. He had a great freshman year, he shot well, he was already physically developed, and he was the player he was likely to be.
Houstan isnt that. He hasnāt shown the ability to do anything other than shoot, heās not physically developed, and his shooting is goodā¦not great. There is a lot he can still prove.
The bottom line is whether he thinks any team will draft him and where versus how he feels about staying. Realistically heās a second round pick (no guaranteed contract) or undrafted if he leaves this year. The upside is an Iggy or DJ situation. The downside is probably a Chaundee or Matthews situation.
If he stays, he can physically develop and show more skills. The upside is that he can move into the first round and get a guaranteed contract. The downside is that if he treads water he is back where he is right now.
Pretty sure athlete name jerseys predated Valiant and are produced by the MDen (ie the university). Looks like Valiant sells some on their site but I presume they just buy them from the MDen?
Looks like on-campus vs off-campus work is the distinction for student visas
I mean, MDen isnāt the same entity as the University of Michiganā¦ So Iām not sure that would qualify as on-campus work.
To me Houston isnāt close to a NBA player yet. I know they draft on potential, which is why Moussa might leave, but Houston hasnāt shown it yet. I donāt think heāll have much of a choice
Iām pretty sure Ojaboās shirt was being sold, but he said at the same time that he couldnāt make money off of it, so could be a similar situation.
Yeah, this seems most likely to me is that it can be sold but they canāt collect the money or something like that.
Exactly! Iggy had a lot more going for him as a college player, and he is struggling to survive at the NBA level. Caleb has the potential to improve his stock with an extra year in college, which will most likely help him secure a guaranteed contract, and perhaps a longer NBA career.
Hopefully, at a minimum, Valiant / MDen is holding those funds in escrow for once the player can collect it.
Came here looking for news on Jackson and found a Houstan thread.
The news on Jackson is that heās in the transfer portal and will be at a new school next year.
Canadians might under different rules to work in US
actually a better workaround is to put them on a H-1 visa maybe an entity setup by the university
an irony of our immigration law is that if they enter the country illegally, they might qualify for the status of conditional resident under the Dream Act.
Iggyās almost a full two years older at that point too
Jabariās shooting is ridiculous. High volume, high efficiency at 6ā10". Pretty easy to see why heās considered to be a top 3 pick.
Thatās not exactly news.
Any word on Zebās destination?
Exactly! What news were you looking for?
What school he was headed to. Duh.
