RIP, Al Glick who has passed away at the age of 95

Long time Michigan sports fan, supporter, and benfactor Al Glick has passed away at the age of 95. Rest in Peace, Al. You are truly an iconic figure in University of Michigan Athletics and in your love for the university.

Juwan Howard, men’s basketball coach: "There was just something about him. He had the biggest heart. He was willing to help anyone and did so without thinking twice. It was a blessing to know him as an athlete and even more so when my family and I returned to Ann Arbor.”

John Beilein, former men’s basketball coach: "One of my fondest memories was grabbing him and hugging him after our last-second win over MSU. He was so shocked that he was the first person I grabbed. But you cannot measure the impact Al has had on the University of Michigan and so many other people and places.”

My mom was actually a nurse at the doctor’s office Glick attended and got to know him a bit. He used to bring her fun Michigan stuff when he saw her since he knew she was a huge Michigan fan. He got her tickets to a couple things over the years also. She was pretty sad to hear about his passing today because he was always such a nice guy to her. My brother and I used to always encourage her to leverage her friendship with him more because of the Michigan connection but our mom isn’t the type to do that and he wasn’t the type to flaunt his Michigan access to everyone. RIP.

95! Wonder when he became a UofM fan. Lots of history there.
