I’m surprised at the extent to which the B1G is dominating the series so far. Is the B1G better / even deeper than expected, or is the ACC weak outside of its top 2-3 teams? Or just random results?
No way they’re not better than last year. Whether or not they challenge Wisconsin depends on Shannon Scott playing well in halfcourt offense. They are extremely deep and don’t have a glaring weakness (assuming Scott plays better than he did last night). We shall see…

I’m waiting for today’s games to finish before I make any conclusions. The ACC could very well win the challenge, although I predict a B1G 8-6 win.
Looks like this discussion should have gone in the other thread (totally my fault) but here’s KenPom’s breakdown of the likely number of B1G wins. Something as “bad” as 8-6 would be a mild upset at this point.
Barring injuries, I feel very comfortable OSU will have 11-12 B1G wins this season. They are the most athletic team in the conference by far, and as soon as their roles become more defined and familiarity sets in, they will be very tough to beat. A tourney cinch,IMO. Probably a 3-4 seed.
What are you talking about, the game was a 5 point game for the last 10 minutes of the second half? They came out flat, but Louisville escaped moreso than won. I remember the same thing happened to us vs. OSU, and we went on the natl. championship game.
Close games are irrelevant in terms of what the OP’s premise was (RPI and SOS).
Regardless, the RPI and SOS boost from playing 18 conference games will be more than enough to get them in with a 10-8 conference record.
I think that Ohio St. was incredibly over ranked coming into the season. This is a team that went 10-8 in conference last year and lost in the 1st round to Dayton. Their freshman class is loaded, but they lost a lot. I think that OSU is a borderline top 25 team and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see them finish outside of the top 25. I definitely don’t see them as a top 15 team.
We lost just as much and brought in less talent. I think OSU will finish with at least 10 wins in conference play

But we were an elite eight team that won the conference by three games and arguably brought more back
That said I agree that they are probably a ten win team
What exactly did they lose from last year that was so amazing? While Craft was a very good defensive player, he was below average offensively. One of the worst looking shots I’ve ever seen out of a big ten guard. Lenzelle Smith was a nice role player and not much else. Ross was an offensive talent, albeit an inconsistent one. If you ask me they were over-rated last year, not this year.
On an unrelated note, the commentary from Shane Battier was terrible during that game.
Not everyone can be Dakich
After forcing myself to watch those early games from BTN+ or any of the online games for that matter, I have a new found respect for Dakich. At least he keeps it interesting, and doesn’t detract from the game like some of those people we’ve been exposed to this season! (And Spike is his new Aaron Craft).
