NIT Bubble

Selection Show is at 8:30 p.m. tonight on ESPNU

Per NY Buckets: The true NIT bubble is basically 10 teams for 5 spots: GW, Bama, Michigan, ASU, Yale, UTEP, Florida, Vandy, Toledo, Cal

Think it would be a great opportunity for U-M.

Georgia State just blew a lead against Georgia Southern… 10 minutes left. If Ga So. wins there would be one fewer spot available.

This game is nerve-wracking

And just brutal to watch. In the 30s headed into the final minute. Defense has been okay, but just some terrible shot attempts by both teams.

The NIT Bubble survives…

HERE WE GO ON ESPNU: THE NIT SELECTION SHOW

Two brackets down (with several bubble teams) and no Michigan.

Bummer. Well, guess it’s time to close the books on this one.

What a joke. I guess it was strictly objective based.

If we want to see a silver lining, at least we won’t add anymore injuries this season.

Disappointed, but lets just get ready for next year

Not sure this team deserved a NIT bid anyway … Hopefully this is just a bump in the road but it seems to me another shoe is going to drop an Levert is going pro which would be huge blow for next year

He better get that foot healed up then so he can perform in front of Scouts, otherwise his stock is going to drop.

Nba draft is about potential. . If his medical reports come back fine he will be fine scouts love his potential

True, they are often about potential. And that’s why they’re going to want to watch him more if they’re going to use a high pick on him. Just my feeling.

Caris is supposedly still projected first round. But that depends on who else declares and how many foreign players enter the draft.

Yep, but as guys that are healthy continue to play and the oversears guys declare, it could change the projections dramatically.

A few guys every year kind of show out in the tournament as well.

I have a feeling that the final projections will say late first round, and I think that signals he should come back.

Personally, im just not sold on Caris being a first round pick. He really doesn’t do anything well other than catch and shoot. At the end of the day though, I suspect he will declare if he is considered a late first round pick, and I don’t blame him.

People are projecting him just outside the lottery. I truly believe he goes first round
. I’m pretty upset we didn’t get into the NIT. I understand the numbers don’t back us up , but its pretty clear we are a top team available. I actually think we probably would have won it and we could have built this young team even further for next year.

I like the way we had been playing and wanted to see us in action a few more weeks. We definitely pass the eye test though as a team on the rise and one that should have gotten to ny to take care of business.

I am leaving you guys on this note. Its something I said earlier this year following a demolishing of some big ten opponent. I truly believe we are going to win the conference next year and be a contender nationally. My only question is, is belien going to start walton and spike together? I actually think spike running the point might make more sense as he is a better passer.

I ask this because I like dawkins in the starting lineup with irvin. If levert comes back I think I’d rather see spike, dawkins, irvin ,levert and doyle up front. That lineup has a crap load of potential. Mind you walton is my favorite player on this team, but I just saw spike as a better pure point and the offense started to click with him running the show.

Then you can have walton, rahkman, kam, wilson and robinson as a second unit. One thing we are going to have is depth. thats ten guys plus donnall who have gotten real minutes before and each player has shown glimpses of becoming a good player minus wilson who just didn’t get the time. I am willing to bet he becomes a big part of rotation as he was the freshman getting the third most minutes off the bench early.

Disappointing that the season is over. If we got in, it would have been by the skin of our teeth. Probably needed that N’W game (or just not lose to NJIT and EMU). But so it goes. If we would have made it in, I think we would have been one of the favorites regardless of seed because this team was really starting to get it. From OSU game on, I thought we played pretty good basketball (outside of N’W). OSU blowout, close @Maryland, N’W L, blew out Rutgers and Illinois and played Wisconsin incredibly tough. Would have stood a good chance in the NIT but hopefully it sticks in the craw of our players and they all go on to have great offseasons.
