Michigan Players in the NBA

But that’s kind of the theory of the team. Anthony isn’t a facilitator for others, I think they’re looking to Banchero, Carter, and Wagner to sort do the PG role between them.

Got to see Franz in person tonight. Was not a good game for him. But he did have a nice dunk at the start

It’s a massive feather in Juwan’s cap to have Houstan go in the *second round.

Except that he went in the 2nd round.

Did you forget the guy who just won a championship and signed a near max contract?

I mean I didn’t say “top offensive player”

huh, not sure why you have to diss one wolverine to prop up another

How is saying Franz is the best Wolverine saying anything at all about Jordan Poole or “dissing” him? Come ON. The worst part of trying to write this thing is people acting like any criticism is “hatred” of a former Wolverine.

If you disagree, it’s fine. Poole is a poor defender. Franz is a very good one. In my opinion that makes up for the offensive gap. I think they are both future all-stars.

Would also note that after getting ethered by Dylan on Houstan, that in their second game, with Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton back in the lineup, Houstan was a DNP-CD.

I appreciate the effort you put into the post, still think you’re downplaying Poole especially considering Franz just finished his rookie season on a league worst team.

It’s perfectly fair to disagree with my opinion. Poole had his minutes cut by about 10 per game in the finals because he couldn’t guard anyone. Admittedly, that’s a level of competition Franz hasn’t sniffed, but I think he’d tread water better.

Who is Franz replacing on the floor or starting over on the Golden State team? Steph Curry?

KAT, for example, is a way better defender than Jokic, doesn’t make him a better player.

Well Franz plays a different position but probably Otto Porter?

It was just painful for us fans to see him leave early without reaching his full potential as a college player, as opposed to Livers who to me looked like a better player at the time and went on to develop really well in college. I certainly remember feeling hurt, but I agree he made the right decision and knew far better than I who thought he wasn’t ready for the draft yet.

KAT is a pretty bad defender.

Yeah was going to say…Jokic isn’t aces on defense but probably better than KAT (and arguably the best offensive player in basketball, with Steph being the only one I’d consider but these days that’s more “in a playoff series” than regular season)

Poole and Franz are both great NBA players and we can be proud of both. Really impossible to compare them as their skills, roles, and teams are so different. Poole is a dynamic scorer on a great team, but coming off the bench. Franz is a do-everything two way player that is the most important guy on a bad team.

Nice to have so many wolverines in the league, even if most are fringe players.

PG - Poole
SG - Hardaway
SF - Levert
PF - Franz
C - Moe
BN - Duncan, Livers, Diabate, Houstan

Franz having to do a LOT of work defensively for that roster…yikes.

Is Burke out of the league this year?

He is for now

He was part of a glorious trade towards the end of the off-season where all 9 players involved got cut before opening night.

According to Real GM, the only Michigan guys currently in the GL are Stauskas and Dawkins. Everyone else is playing overseas, including surprises (for me anyway) like Jordan Morgan, Kam Chatman, and Ekpe Udoh.
