Franz Wagner to miss 4-6 weeks with wrist injury

Yeeeeeeesh. So if Johns is actually in a walking boot…are we looking at Castleton and Brooks as day one starters with Teske, X and Livers?

Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

Starting line-up shuffle!

I don’t think Johns being in a walking boot means he won’t be ready by seasons start. Could be, but we don’t have much info there

Hopefully Johns’ ankle isn’t also a moderately long term injury either. Could take a while for the team to get going if they’re both out.

We’ve been lucky with injuries the past couple years after being unlucky in Caris’ jr/sr seasons.

Wow. That’s depressing. Looks like we might be on pace for a brutal non-conference… Expectations for this season probably need to take a significant step down now. Franz will not be providing the level of impact we expected until probably very late in the season now.

Gonna need 40-45 minutes from Brooks, DeJulius, Nunez, Bajema. Really hope Eli and DDJ make a little bit of a jump.

My first thought was that this injury could end up being something that in some ways affects him the entire season, or at least most of it. Seen too many nagging wrist injuries.

Absolutely terrifying when you put it like that.

Hopefully they are both back by the 27th of November for Atlantis. All games until then should be easy enough to win without them, though Creighton will be a challenge. This stinks

This sucks.

Good thing he’ll probably be back for B1G play.

4 weeks: Nov. 18th
5 weeks: Nov. 25 (before Atlantis)
6 weeks: Dec. 2 (before Louisville)

Obviously that’s not including any practice time, etc.

4 weeks is November 18th. 6 weeks in December 4th.

So Franz will 100% miss the Creighton game. The hope probably has to be that he can come back for the Houston Baptist game on the 22nd and slowly contribute as we get into our brutal stretch of 7 games.

That Creighton game just got very very interesting.

FFS. sigh…

Don’t think it makes sense to rush him back in this situation. Definitely don’t want him playing through an injured shooting wrist early in the season if it means he doesn’t get back to 100%. You want him for Big Ten play and you want him healthy in January, February and March.

Is it his left or right wrist?

This puts an enormous damper on the start of the season. The ceiling has to be lowered. This stretch of games could be brutal too. It was already going to be tough. Now it’s downright terrifying.

If some of these unknown guys don’t really step up, 5 losses in that stretch isn’t out of the question.
